At the table in the lounge, Foster had already unpacked all the takeout dishes. The moment Lillian spotted the plate of grilled steak, her heart melted with sweetness.
Her little hands reached out, ready to grab it, only for the man to stop her. Lillian shot him a playful glare.

The office wasn’t decorated with anything extravagant: black marble floors, white walls, a few simple framed prints, a massive bookshelf, a desk, and floor-to-ceiling windows offering a 360- degree view.
He remembered how the little girls in his relatives’ homes at her age were all obsessed with pink, dolls, flowers, and pretty clothes; yet this girl’s world carried such muted, somber colors. He had visited Solara’s office once too; it was the same-simple black or white. Thinking of the things the old master had once said, a chill flickered in Sebastian’s eyes.
When Lillian came out of the lounge, she plopped right down next to Sebastian and began eating without hesitation.
