Rowan glanced at Robert, something unreadable flickering in his eyes, but said nothing. He and Lyla quietly left the study.
Inside the room, Robert turned his sharp gaze on the grandson he had always favored.
Janus was arrogant and unrestrained, but his ruthlessness, his ability to achieve his goals by any means necessary, that was something Robert deeply appreciated. Rowan, by contrast, was obedient, steady, but far too indecisive.
