At last, it was Riverdale High’s turn.
Daylen went up first. His commanding presence, poised delivery, and magnetic voice had the audience riveted; paired with his striking good looks, it was no wonder the girls in the crowd were practically swooning. Even setting aside his excellent English, his sheer personal charm outshone every competitor before him.
Eda followed. But with Chloe before her and Daylen just now, her speech inevitably lost its luster. By comparison, though solid in skill, she paled next to such brilliance; once again, she became little more than a stepping stone.
Finally, it was Lillian’s turn.
She stepped onto the stage in a black vintage coat with a crisp lapel, paired with black ankle boots.
Her striking features and quiet confidence pulled every gaze to her.
Because she had arrived earlier than most, few had taken notice of her before; now, the audience couldn’t look away.

The hall fell into a breathless hush; aside from her commanding voice, not a sound could be heard-not even breathing.
When her speech ended, it wasn’t until she had stepped down from the stage that the crowd seemed to awaken, erupting in thunderous applause.

Her identity exposed, her fame soared instantly. All eyes fixed on her.
Still, she carried herself with calm composure as she returned to her seat.

The remaining contestants struggled to measure up. Whether from nerves or simply being overshadowed, none managed to leave much of an impression.
When the preliminaries wrapped up, there was no suspense at all—Riverdale High’s winner was Lillian.
What surprised everyone, though, was that Brookstone High’s winner turned out to be Chloe.
Eda stared at Lillian, who looked as serene as ever. She felt a crushing sense of helplessness. Should she hate her for outshining her again? But Lillian’s skill was undeniable, even admirable; what basis was there for hate?

Daylen took one look, then said, “Since your friend is here, we’ll see you this afternoon.” He left with the others.

In truth, she had recognized her the moment she stepped on stage; Chloe had never imagined they’d meet again under such circumstances.
