Wayne looked thoroughly pleased as he stepped closer to her, leaning in just slightly, his eyes narrowing with a sly gleam. With a wicked smile, he quipped, “And you, Ms. Karina, have only gotten more magnetic… makes a man like me feel downright inadequate p>
Then, with a casual wave toward Lillian, he turned and strolled out.
Karina blinked after him, momentarily stunned, before muttering under her breath, “What the heck is that supposed to mean p>
Off to the side, Layla was already struggling to hold back her laughter, shoulders shaking as she tried to keep quiet.
Even Lillian had to stifle a laugh.
Seeing their exaggerated reactions, Karina finally pieced it together. “Damn it, that brat just played me, didn’t he?” Only now did she catch the meaning behind Wayne’s parting words.
Lillian, still smiling, tried to soothe her. “Karina, don’t let Wayne get under your skin. Next time. we see him, I’ll make sure to teach him a lesson. How dare he talk that way about our beautiful, graceful Karina-he’s got some nerve.” She even managed to put on a mock-indignant expression.

Karina handed over a stack of documents. “Here’s the latest financial report. Profits from the pharmaceutical division have tripled compared to the same period last year, and the hospital division’s seeing a big boost too. Oh, and this is the report from Sandy River—you’ll want to go through that as well p>
Taking the file, Lillian nodded. “Got it. I’ll be in the office for the next few days; bring me anything that needs my signature p>
