Foster hurried to explain. “Ms. Triny got very emotional when she found out. Morten hopes you’ll come see her. He also said that after all, Ms. Triny was injured because of you p>
Sebastian frowned, his voice direct. “Tell Morten I’m not a doctor; going there won’t help. She should focus on resting and recovering p>
Foster’s face tightened with hesitation. “Yes, I’ll tell Morten right away.” He turned to leave.
“Wait.” Lillian dabbed at the corner of her mouth. “Since Ms. Triny was injured because of my fiancé, it’s only right that we visit her-otherwise people might say we’re ungrateful. So, Mr. Whitmore and I will go together p>
Foster immediately replied, “Yes,” and left the room.
Sebastian gazed at the girl, his eyes soft. “You don’t have to go. Why insist on it p>
Lillian smiled. “No matter what, she took a bullet for you. I ought to thank her; she spared you from that pain p>
“Fine, I’ll go with you,” Sebastian said, his voice warm with affection.
Meanwhile, at Kingston Hospital, Triny leaned weakly against the bed, pale in her blue-and- white striped patient gown.
Morten sat by her side, his tone full of pity. “Why put yourself through this? That man doesn’t love you; none of this is worth it p>
Triny’s gaze stayed on the window, her voice cool. “Grandpa, I just wanted to fight for one last chance. I can’t stand the thought of losing him, so this was the only choice I had p>
Morten sighed at her stubbornness. “You’ve been lying here injured all this time, and he still hasn’t come to see you. Do you really think this gamble has any chance of success p>
“He’ll come. I know he will,” Triny whispered.
Just then, the door opened with a knock. Renee walked in carrying a fruit basket, Jane following behind her.
“How is she?” Renee asked.

Morten let out a heavy sigh. “The doctor said it’s not too serious anymore; but the bullet’s force damaged her nerves. There may be lasting complications p>
Renee’s brows knit tightly. “What are we going to do? Triny’s a dancer; if her hand doesn’t heal, how can she ever return to the stage p>
“Exactly,” Morten muttered darkly.
Jane glanced at Triny. “And Mr. Whitmore hasn’t shown up? She was injured because of him; at the very least, he should be here taking care of her p>
Morten shook his head. “No. Since the incident last night, he’s only sent one of his men p>
Jane bristled with indignation. “That’s heartless. Triny was gravely hurt for his sake, and he’s done nothing? That must break her heart p>
Morten waved her off. “Enough. Let’s not talk about him.” He stood. “You two stay with her. I’ll go find the doctor and ask more questions. Leon should be arriving soon p>
“Dad, I’ll come with you,” Renee said quickly. “I know a little about this; maybe I can get more detailed answers p>
Morten nodded. “All right.” The two of them left the room together.
