Carson smiled at the girls. “I brought Xiaoxiao out for dinner. We happened to run into Jill and the others. Since I heard you were coming too, I thought it’d be more fun if we all ate together p>
Only then did Natalie notice the woman standing next to her brother – elegant features, tall and curvy, dressed in a thigh-length skirt that highlighted her alluring figure.

Natalie was about to snap back, but Lilian grabbed her arm and cut in, “Don’t make a scene. Let’s go eat.” She turned to Carson and added, “Natalie didn’t do well on her exam today, so she’s not in the best mood. We’ll eat separately, just to keep things simple.” With that, she tugged Natalie and Jill along into the
restaurant.
The dinner that followed was full of awkward tension.
Red-eyed, Natalie leaned toward Jill and murmured, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know my brother had a new girlfriend p>
Jill gave a strained smile, her eyes full of quiet sorrow. “It’s fine. This isn’t the first time Carson’s dated someone. I’m used to it. I was the one who fell for him he never knew. So it’s okay, Let’s just drink p>
Kelvin and the others, sensing Jill’s mood, quietly joined in, drinking with her without trying to stop her.
Lilian watched them, remembering how she too used to drink herself into a stupor over failed relationships. But now, watching Jill and the others, it all seemed foolish.

Watching them, Lilian felt a quiet sense of contentment.
