On Monday, Lilian returned to school just as the midterm exam results were released. Everyone rushed to check their scores. As soon as Lilian stepped into the classroom, the chatter instantly died down. She didn’t pay it any mind and walked to her seat. No sooner had she sat down than Natalie came running in,
breathless.
“Lilian! Did you see your results? You’ve blown up the entire school-perfect scores in every subject p>
Lilian glanced at her desk mate’s thrilled expression and smiled. “I hadn’t checked yet, but now that you yelled it out, I guess I know whether I want to or not p>
Natalie kept going, still hyped. “How did you even manage that? I hardly ever see you study, but your grades are unreal p>
Just then, the homeroom teacher walked in with a beaming smile and headed straight to the podium.
“Everyone, you’ve probably seen your results by now. Our class did pretty well this time, and we even got the top student in the whole school-Lilian. I hope all of you can learn from her p>
As the teacher went on with an enthusiastic speech, Lilian rubbed her slightly aching temples, picked up her medical textbook, and quietly began reading all the way through to the lunch break.
At noon, Luna and Jill came to find her.
As soon as she saw Lilian, Luna teased with a smile, “Look at you, Lilian-our school’s new celebrity! Top in every subject and number one on the school forum p>
Jill grinned and chimed in, “Of course! Our Lilian’s a total all-rounder p>
Lilian shot them a playful glare. “Cut it out. I was hoping to coast through these three years lowkey, and now a single exam has everyone this worked up. If I’d known, I would’ve aimed for barely passing p>
Luna and Jill exchanged knowing smiles, then Luna gave her a gentle pat on the shoulder. “Alright, jokes aside-we came today to invite you to my birthday party this Saturday. You have to come. No excuses. Also… Yulia’s back. And honestly, she seems different. Just a heads-up-be careful around her. Don’t let her mess with you p>
Lilian hadn’t expected Yulia to return to school this soon, but she’d never been one to shy away from conflict. As long as Yulia didn’t come looking for trouble, she wouldn’t go out of her way to start any.
The week passed peacefully. Lilian ran into Yulia a few times, and each time, Yulia greeted her warmly. But beyond that, she didn’t initiate any conversation, and Lilian didn’t think much of it.
Saturday arrived-Luna’s birthday. Since Lilian had already promised to attend, she couldn’t back out.
She’d heard a bit about the Ginger family. In Solara, they were considered an influential business family. While not quite as renowned as the Qiao family, they were still highly respected.
When Lilian arrived at the Ginger family’s villa, luxury cars were already lined up outside.
The entire courtyard had been exquisitely decorated.

Lilian’s arrival drew quite a bit of attention. She wore a light blue dress-simple and elegant, like a breeze over water. No accessories, just a single bracelet on her wrist. Though understated, she looked poised and refined. When people saw her face, they couldn’t help but be stunned.
“Lilian! Finally! I’ve been waiting forever,” called a sweet, charming voice.
Lilian looked up and smiled at the girl approaching. “Well, today’s Ms. Luna’s big day-I had to show up properly.” She held out a gift bag. “Here. Happy birthday p>
Luna accepted it with a mock pout. “Alright, I’ll let you off this time since you clearly put in the effort. But don’t you
dare go overboard next time.” Then she grabbed Lilian’s hand. “Come on. Jill and Natalie are already here-they’ve been waiting for you.” With that, she led her toward the main house.
