Chapter 50

A R I A N A

The door slipped opened again two of my father’s guards walked in not saying a word one of them untied the ropes from my wrists my arms felt weak and sore.

Then they pulled me to my feet and started leading me out of the room.

“Where are you taking me?” I asked, my voice shaky.

They did not answer and just walked me down a dark hallway to another door.

One of the guards opened it and pushed me inside.

The room was small and had no windows and there, in the corner, sitting on a small mattress on the floor, was my son.

“Asher!” I cried, running to him.

He looked up his little face was red and wet from crying, he had his knees pulled up to his chest.

“Mummy!” he sobbed, jumping up and running into my arms.

I held him tight, so tight as though he was going to disappear if I didn’t, I ran kiss on his hair, his face, his hands and I could not stop touching him.

I have never been more frightened that would was.

“I was so scared,” he cried into my shirt. “The bad men took me, they did not let me go.” He cried

My heart broke into a million pieces as I held his little face in my hands rubbing on his cheek.

“Look at me, baby,” I said, trying to sound brave even though I was so scared. “It is going to be okay mummy is here now okay and I promise I will make everything okay they’re not going to hurt you p>

I wiped his tears with my thumbs. “You are so brave, my strong, brave boy and I need you to be brave for just a little longer, okay? Nothings going to happen to you my love” I say placing a kiss on his forehead as tears rolled down from my eyes.

He nodded, his lip trembling. “I do not like it here, mummy, I wanna go home p>

“I know, baby I know but I will get you out I promise.” I say trying to sound reassuring.

Just then, the door opened again Angelo stood there, looking annoyed

“Time’s up,” he said coldly.

“No! Please!” I begged, holding Asher tighter. “Just a few more minutes! I beg you, please don’t hurt him, I’ll do everything you asked of me to do but just let him go”

Angelo ignored nodding at the guards and they came in and started pulling me away from my son.

“No! Let me go!” I screamed, fighting them. “Asher p>

“Mummy! Don’t go!” Asher cried, reaching for me.

The guards were too strong, they dragged me out of the room and the last thing I saw was my son’s scared, crying face before the door closed.

They took me back to the main warehouse area where my father was waiting there.

He looked at my tear-streaked face.

“Remember what you have to do Ariana” he said, his voice hard. “Get those papers and Ruin Dante’s fucking name, make sure to do whatever it takes p>

I nodded, crying too hard to speak.

“Please Dad don’t hurt Asher. Please” I begged in fear.

“Do not mess this up ” he warned one last time ignoring my pleas

Then he turned and walked away, leaving me standing there, my heart shattered into pieces.

I watched as his figure disappeared my whole body wrecked as I cry more the thought of Asher being in the hands of my father scared me.

One of the guards walked over to me snapping me out of my train of thoughts. “It is time to go home now,” he said.

I did not want to go.

I wanted to run back to the room and hold Asher and take him away from their cruel hands but I knew I could not.

I had a job to do and unless I get that done, Dad wouldn’t hesitate to hurt Asher, he’s a fucking monster.

I nodded slowly, wiping my face with my dirty hands as I followed the guard out of the warehouse to a black car.

He opened the door for me and I got in.

The car ride was quiet as I stared out the window but did not see anything my mind wondering back to Asher, to my father’s demands

When we got to Dante’s mansion, the guard stopped the car a few walk away from the gate. “You have to walk from here,” he said.

I got out of the car and he drove away quickly.

I took a deep breath and sucked back the remaining tears.

I wiped my eyes hard.

My legs felt heavy with each step I take

I opened the big door and walked into the foyer.

And there he was.

Dante was standing there he looked worried his eyes looked tired.

“Ariana,” he said, his voice full of relief. “Where were you? I was so p>

He stopped talking, he saw my face, my red, puffy eyes.

He saw the dirt on my clothes.

“What happened?” he asked, stepping closer. “Who hurt you p>

His voice was soft.

It was full of care.

Hearing that voice broke me.

All the fear, the pain, the guilt it all came rushing out and I could not hold it in anymore.

I did not say a word, I just ran to him and threw my arms around him and buried my face in his chest breaking into sobs.

Dante was surprised as he stood still for a second before his arms wrapped around me.

He held me tight, he did not ask any more questions.

He just let me cry.

He held me like he would never let me go.

I felt bad that I had to betray him to save my son and if he was to find out, he’d never be able to forgive me, that was for sure.

I was going to be lying to the man who was holding me and willing to give us a chance.

I was about to betray his trust.

And it felt like the worst feeling in the world.
