Chapter 71
A R I A N A
I was so pissed at Dante how could he believe Jessica? How could he take her side and tell me to apologize?
He was supposed to be my husband, he was supposed to support me.
I was so upset.
I walked straight out of the hotel meeting the chauffeur was waiting outside.
“Take me to the airport,” I told him my voice was shaking with anger.
The chauffeur looked surprised but he nodded. “Yes, Mrs. Russo p>
The car ride to the airport was quiet.
I stared out the window, but I did not see the beautiful city of Milan all I could see was Dante holding Jessica and him telling me to apologize.
We got to the private jet.
I walked up the steps and went straight to a seat in the back putting on my headphones and stared at my phone.
I did not want to talk to anyone certainly not Dante.
A little while later, I heard voices.
I looked up.
Dante was walking onto the plane and right behind him was Jessica.
Just great!
My heart dropped.
My eyes started to sting with tears, why was she here? Was he bringing her with us?
Dante looked at me.
His face was serious.
I quickly looked back down at my phone pretending I did not see them, I pretended Iwas very interested in a stupid game on my screen.
I felt them walk past me.
I heard Jessica say something in a sweet voice to Dante.
I did not look up.
I kept my eyes glued to my phone not want them to see me cry I did not want Dante to know how much he had hurt me.
The flight felt like it took forever.
I just sat there, pretending to be okay but inside, I was breaking.
I was trying to focus on the movie on my screen, but I couldn’t my stomach was growling I hadn’t eaten any lunch because of the fight.
Thanks to so called Jessica which Dante is supporting, fighting back the urge to hiss, I rubbed on my stomach.
A male flight attendant walked down the aisle he had a nice, friendly smile, and stopped by my seat.
“Can I get you anything, Mrs Russo?” he asked. “Something to drink? Some food p>
I felt so hungry. “Yes, please,” I said. “Could I have a sandwich? And some water p>
“Of course,” he said. “A hungry passenger is a sad passenger can’t have that on this flight p>
His comment was so silly and unexpected that I laughed.
A real, genuine laugh taking my mind off the anger and irritation brewing within me.
He smiled wider, happy he made me laugh. “I’ll be right back with that for you p>
He came back a few minutes later with a tray There was a big sandwich, some fruit, and a bottle of water. “Here you go. Enjoy p>
“Thank you,” I said, giving him a small smile.
I ate the sandwich.
It was delicious.
I felt a little better with some food in my stomach.
I put my headphones back on and went back to my movie, the friendly attendant had broken the awful silence for a minute but now the bad feelings came back.
I could feel Dante and Jessica sitting somewhere behind me.
I wondered if they were talking, I wondered if he was comforting her.
I turned the volume on my movie up louder.
I didn’t want to think about it.
I just wanted to get home.
The plane landed after a long trip and I got up quickly and was the first one off I didn’t look back and just went straight to the car that was waiting for us.
I got into the back seat.
I expected Dante to sit in the front, or maybe take a different car with Jessica.
But he got into the back seat with me.
I turned my whole body away from him facing the window, staring at my own reflection in the dark glass.
I didn’t say a word.
His presence didn’t feel comfortable, it felt annoying.
The car ride home was completely quiet but I could feel his eyes on me I could feel his anger.
I didn’t care I was angry too, infact I am suppose to be the one angry and not him.
When we got to the mansion, I practically jumped out of the car rushing for the front door wanting to just get to my room and lock the door.
But to my utmost suprise, Dante interfered, he grabbed my wrist as me got to foyer.
“What was the meaning of that?” he demanded, his voice low and angry. “The way you acted on the plane? Ignoring me? And you were smiling and laughing with that flight attendant p>
I tried to pull my arm away. “Let me go p>
“No!” he said, his grip tightening. “You will explain yourself, you slapped my assistant, you caused a scene, and then you flirt with another man in front of me p>
That was the last straw.
I exploded.
“Me? What about you!” I shouted, my voice breaking. “You were having a great time with Jessica! You believed her lies! You held her! You told me to apologize to her! You took her side, not mine! Not even bothering to hear my own side of the story you just choose to belive her and falsify me p>
His eyes widened. “That is not what happened! She was upset and leaving me to apologize for your own mistake when you could have simply apologized and we’d have put all this behind yet you choose to be stubborn p>
“And I wasn’t?” I screamed, tears starting to fall. “She called me a gold digger! She said you didn’t love me, you believed her fake tears! And now I’m starting to belive she was right about what she said, about you not wanting me, cause clearly you’re proving that to me”I say as my wyes stung.
I broke into sobs, my body-shaking.
Dante lets out a breath pulling me to his arms as I cried.
