Chapter 97
A R I A N A
It has been two weeks since we moved into the mansion and two weeks since everything changed.
I don’t think I’ve seen the kids this happy as they are. They love their new school, new life and friends.
Every night Dante helps them with homework and reads them a bedtime story while I watch them from the doorway.
My heart feels so full.
This is the life I always wanted for them.
Dante has been so good at taking everything slow with us, he trying to be there for me kisses my forehead without pushing.
He is giving me time to get used to everything.
To us.
He asked me to work with him at his company but I refused. I need to be independent. For me.
Dante could take care of me and kids, his wealth was one that would suffice the next generation of his family but I still wanted to make a name for myself.
He has done and is still doing more than enough for me and he kids but this… this is for me I need to know I can stand on my own feet.
So today I had a job interview at a publishing company It is what I always wanted to do before everything happened.
I walked into the big office building with my heart was pounding, I was so nervous.
The interview went well I think. The lady was nice as she asked me many questions and I answered them all.
“Thank you Ms. Melendez. We will be in touch,” she said.
I walked out of her office feeling good and proud of myself hopefully I’ll be getting the job if everything goes well.
Then, my heart dropped as my eyes fell on the last person I expected to see.Standing right there in the hallway was Angelo.
Fuck!
What was he doing here, isn’t he suppose to be in jail?
He saw me, his eyes widened in shock.
“Ariana?” he said.
I turned quickly as I tried to walk away my hands were shaking.
No!
I don’t want to talk to him, I don’t want to see him… His presence agravates me, after what he did? He should be in jail just like my father.
“Ariana!” he called again louder as I walked faster ignoring him, but of course he was faster, he grabbed my arm gripping tight, It hurt.
“Let me go Angelo,” I said trying to pull away.
He didn’t let go Instead he pushed me into a small empty conference room closing the the door.
“What are you doing here?” he hissed his face angry. “You are not supposed to be here. You are not supposed to be in New York. I thought your father and I made it very clear you were to disappear. Never come back p>
I yanked my arm away from him enraged by his audacity.
“Why don’t you go ask your uncle what I’m doing here?” I snapped.
His face changed looking confused. Then scared. “Uncle? What about him? He knows you’re back p>
“Yes,” I said, my voice strong. “Dante brought me back and our the kids. We are living with him. We are a family now p>
“No,” Angelo whispered looking pale. “No, you are not supposed to be back. Do you want to ruin me? I am Dante’s COO! I have a career! If he finds out… if he finds out what I did p>
I laughed. It was not a nice laugh. “What you did? You mean when you kidnapped our son? When you took Asher for five days to scare me into leaving and stealing Dante’s company papers? Or do you mean the scandal you created at Dante’s company? The one you and my father planned together? The one you later framed me for p>
Angelo’s eyes were wide with fear. “How… how p>
“I figured,” I said. ” Cat caught your tongue…huh? You used me to get to Dante you wanted to ruin him him so badly and take everything from him p>
I stepped closer to him. “What do you think Dante will do to you when he finds out? When he finds out his own nephew wants his downfall? What will he do Angelo p>
Angelo’s face was white, he looked like he was going to be sick.
“You need to keep your tiny little mouth shut,” he snarled, pointing a finger at me. “If you know what is good for you, you will leave. Now and you will never tell Dante anything or I swear to you, you will regret it p>
I was not scared of him anymore not now not ever, not with Dante by my side.
I pushed his hand away. “You don’t get to tell me what to do not anymore p>
I walked to the door and opened it turning back at him.
“You mind yourself Angelo. You stay out of my way and maybe, just maybe, I will consider keeping your secret safe p>
I didn’t wait for his answer I walked out of the room with heart was beating fast.
