Chapter 106
As soon as I got upstairs I saw Paisley in the dining room with the kids, trying to get them to eat something. But they had seen a lot today and I could tell that they were a little unsettled by everything. So I sat down with them and I put Aiden on my lap.
“I’m sorry if you saw something today that you didn’t like.” I said, while I was helping him cut up his food.
“Why was Logan so mad at that man?” Aiden asked.
“I don’t know. I think Logan is just mad all the time.” I said.
“He needs to get a girlfriend.” Aiden said. And I tried not to laugh at that, but I totally agreed with it.
“What have you got planned for the rest of the day?” Paisley asked.
“I really don’t know. I’ve got a few things in mind but I would rather wait until the kids are asleep.” I said.
“That’s fair enough.” She said.
Ezra walked into the room at sat at the table and gave me a coffee while he had his
own.
“Have the kids been behaving for you?” Ezra asked.
“Yeah. They’ve been doing great.” Paisley said.
“Morgan. We need to talk about upstairs.” Ezra said.
“I’ve alright called the coroner. He’s on his way.” I said.
“How are you handling it?” He asked.
“She died protecting our kids. How am I meant to feel about it? I’m going to get them
back for everything that they’ve done to my family.” I said.
“Okay. Well, we need to find out what the hell they are first.” Ezra said.
“If I had a little bit of pull around here then I might hire someone to do some
research. But I’ll probably have to do it myself.” I said.
“After the bombshell that you just dropped. I think it might be alright if you try to ask someone for help. They might actually do it now.” He said.
“You really underestimate how much these people hate me.” I said.
“You just beat the hell out of their Alpha. The same Alpha that’s been lying to them.” He said.
“I know.” I said.
“Do you think the military know that Logan and this pack aren’t the ones killing humans?” He asked.
“I really don’t know what the hell to think anymore.” I said.
“We better figure that out. Before they fly over with bomber jets.” He said.
I thought about what Ezra said and he was right. The military could come and wipe us out at any time. I had to figure out a way to stop that from happening. They believed that Logan’s pack was responsible for killing innocent people. But they’re not. I can’t let them die, no matter how much I hate them. Especially since they won’t stop at this pack. It won’t be long before they’re at our pack wanting to destroy us as well.

I wasn’t sure what Logan had been doing outside but it took him a long time before he came inside and he just looked at us in the dining room before he went upstairs and we heard his bedroom door slam from where we were.
He was pretty pissed off. And I guess I couldn’t blame him. I did embarrass him in front of his pack and I told them the whole reason why he was being an asshole. I don’t think they would have appreciated him treating them like crap because of me, since they really didn’t like me.
But whatever was going through his head right now, we had a lot more important things to worry about that didn’t include Logan. So when we finished feeding the kids and we got them changed and ready for the day, we played with them for a little while on the living room floor.
Aiden wanted to go outside but they were still cleaning up from the attack so I thought it would be best if he stayed inside with us.
But I did eventually break off from the group and I went downstairs to the basement again and I stood a few feet away from the cage and the creature just looked at me like it was happy to see me. Not surprised, happy.
So I pulled out my phone and I took a photo of the creature and I walked back upstairs without saying a word to it.
I then plugged my phone into the laptop and I posted that photo on the dark web to see if I could get any information about the damn thing. Just in case anyone happens to know what it is. And hopefully, the military was guarding this site and they would also see the photo. And they would see where it was coming from.
From inside Logan’s pack, which would hopefully make them question what the hell was going on around here. But I doubt it would. I would need more evidence than this simple photo to stop them from destroying us. Especially if they had already set the wheels in motion. And that’s what scared me the most.
It didn’t take too long at all before people started posting on the dark web about the creature. A lot of them were crack pots, but one person seemed pretty reliable.
– That is a descendant of the very first vampire. They never evolved like the rest of the vampires did. They are worse than any vampire you will ever face and if you have an army of them after you, you better find a good place to hide. That’s what I did.
-Who are you? I want to talk to you more about this creature. I’ve got one in a cage in my basement and apparently they have been after me my whole life. But I don’t know why.
-Then you’re already marked. I’m sorry. There’s nothing you can do. They won’t stop until they have you. Good luck.
He logged off after that and I couldn’t find him again.
He said that I was marked. What the hell did that mean? I wasn’t marked by him. I didn’t have any marks on me by these creatures and I was actually able to kill them. So, what the hell? None of that made sense to me.
I showed it to Ezra and he couldn’t make sense of it either. But he was assuming that this person was probably once a target of theirs. And that’s why they’re in hiding now. Which made sense to me. But these things look like they are able to find whoever they want. So, is that person really safe where they are.
It was pretty doubtful. And since they were the only ones with answers. I really wanted to find them. And fast.
