Chapter 127
Ezra, the kids and I were getting ready to head back to our pack. Paisley was going to stay here since her mate was Ryan and we couldn’t stand in between them two being together. As much as I hated Ryan, I still couldn’t stand between them. Even though I thought Paisley deserved so much better than him.
Anyway, we were loading our bags into the car getting ready to head out when we heard some shouting coming from the forest.
We saw a couple of the warriors running towards us and Bonnie, Ezra’s mate who rejected him to be with Cory, was running right behind them. She looked badly injured with burns all over her and blood everywhere and she collapsed outside the packhouse.
Ezra and I ran over to her and Ezra ordered a medic to get here now.
“Bonnie. What the hell happened?” Ezra asked.
“They’re dead. They’re all dead.” Bonnie said.
“Who’s dead?” I asked.
“Cory, Sergio, Cyrus. All of them.” She cried.
I looked at Ezra in shock and confusion. Who the hell would have attacked them? Why were they attacked? They helped us when we needed it to defeat those creatures.
I stood up and yelled at Paisley to watch the kids and I started running for the forest.
Ezra was screaming at me from where Bonnie was but I didn’t stop. I ran through the forest at top speed and across the border with a few warriors following me. No doubt under Ezra’s orders and I didn’t stop until I got to the house that the vampires were living in.
Bonnie wasn’t kidding. It was broad daylight. They wouldn’t have made it out of there alive. They would have burnt up in the sun and the whole house was engulfed in flames.”
It wasn’t long before a fire engine from the nearby town arrived and they fought the fire until it was out and they had to check the structure before anyone could go inside.
I told them that my friends lived in that house. There were at least 8 or 9 people that
I know of that were in there. They might not have all been home, but I thought that
they were. So they said that they would look for them. But I wasn’t holding out much hope. The whole house was gutted.
It wasn’t much longer after that when Ezra showed up beside me and saw the carnage in front of us and he stood
there with his arm around me.
“How’s Bonnie?” I asked.
“She’s in the hospital. They’re taking care of her.” He said. And I nodded my head.
When the fire chief was finished inspecting the inside of the house he told me that they found several bodies inside. No one made it out.
We knew that at least one person made it out. But that’s because she wasn’t afraid of the sunlight. The others were doomed and now we had to try and figure out who the hell wanted to kill these vampires. The vampires that never did anything to anyone.
They helped save people instead of killing them. None of this made any sense to me.

“Call the pack. Tell them that we’re not coming home today.” I said.
“I already did.” Ezra said.
So I turned around and started walking back through the forest to the pack and I went straight to the hospital once I was sure the kids were alright with Paisley.
Bonnie was being treated for her burns, but with her accelerated healing, she was doing a lot better than any human would be doing right now.
So I went into the room and I sat next to her bed while the doctor was in there, hooking her up to IV fluids and he had her on some pretty strong pain meds. “Are they all gone?” She asked.
“Yeah. They’re all gone.” I said. And she started crying, almost hysterically. “Bonnie. I need to know what happened.” I said.
“I don’t know. I really don’t. I mean, we were in bed and then I smelt smoke. I woke Cory up and he smelt it as well. Everyone got up and they all ran downstairs trying to put the fire out, but it was just out of control. Cory ordered me out of the house. He knew that I could still make it out alive. I didn’t want to leave without him. I really didn’t. But he literally pushed me out the door and locked it from the inside. He wouldn’t let me back in.” She explained.
“And you didn’t see any sign of anyone hanging around?” I asked.
“No.” She said.
“Alright. You get some rest. I’ll come and see you later.” I said. So she nodded her head and I got up and left the
room.
Ezra was standing outside the room and he had heard everything that she said. She’d just lost her mate so we knew that she was going to be lost for a while. And I knew that Ezra was going to let her stay at the pack until she gets back on her feet. He wasn’t going to just turn her away. That wasn’t his style. But now we needed to figure out what the hell happened and who attacked the vampires.
Bonnie wasn’t giving us anything that we could use. She didn’t see anything. So Ezra and I left and we headed back to the packhouse and the kids were back inside.
“Aren’t we going home?” Aiden asked.
“I’m sorry baby. Something’s happened and we have to stay a little longer.” I said.
“Is it because of that hurt lady this morning?” He asked.
“Yeah. It is.” I said.
“Is she going to be alright?” He asked.
“She’s going to be just fine. Don’t worry about it. This isn’t something that you need
to worry about, alright.” I said.
“Alright.” He said, going back to the living room and sitting down to play with his toys.
I looked back at Ezra and I didn’t know what to tell him. We had already sent all of our warriors back home and we didn’t know what the hell we were going to do about
this.
I mean, this wasn’t even really our responsibility. But they were my friends, so that’s why I wanted to get to the

bottom of this.
The humans weren’t going to be able to figure it out. At most, they might figure out that it was arsen. But they are never going to catch the people or creatures that did it. That was up to us. And Ezra knew straight away that I wasn’t going to stop until I found out who did it.
