Chapter 128
Ezra and I called a meeting with Beta Levi. He had begged to keep this position even though Logan was dead and I agreed to it for the time being. Only until I found someone to replace him.
We met in the office of the packhouse and started brainstorming who could have done this. And there were so many people that we could think of. Hunters, witches, humans that found out about vampires. There could have been so many and we had nothing to go on right now.
The fire chief couldn’t even tell me straight off how many bodies they found in the house but I knew that it had to be all of the vampires because they couldn’t run out into the daylight. So I was going to find out who did this.
“It’s not our responsibility.” Levi said.
“If it weren’t for Cory, then we’d all be dead right now. Think about that.” I said. And Ezra looked at him, shaking his head, warning him not to go down that road with me because he wasn’t going to like the outcome.
“So, where do we start?” Ezra asked.
“We have to wait until the humans leave the burning building. They will do their own investigation if they think that humans were killed in the fire. And then we can go back and look for clues that they wouldn’t think to look for. Hell, for all we know it could have been other werewolves that killed them. We just don’t know.” I said.
“By the time the humans are gone, we may not be able to find a scent if it was werewolves.” Ezra said.
“I know. But we might find something else. Footprints or something like that. I don’t know. It might let us narrow down the people that did this.” I explained.
“Alright. So, what do we do now?” Levi asked.
“Make sure that everyone is prepared. Get the warriors together. Make sure that they know what is going on and I want to know who is against looking for the killer of these vampires. Do you understand me? You tell me immediately if you find resistence from any of your warriorws.” I ordered him with my newly found Alpha aura. So he bared his neck to me.
“I will.” He agreed.
Levi left the room and I stood there looking out the window and Ezra walked up behind me and put his arms around me.
“Don’t worry. We’re going to find out who did this.” Ezra said.
“I know. I just wish it didn’t happen. Cory was actually a pretty good friend.” I said.
“I know he was. And I am really sorry about everything that’s happened so far.” He said.
We walked out of the office and Paisley handed me Savannah because she was crying and I was the only one who could settle her down.
“Hey baby girl. What’s the matter?” I asked, rocking her around the living room.
She put her head on my shoulder and I could tell that she was tired. She needed to go to bed, but I didn’t want to put her down just yet. I rocked her around the room for a while before I finally grabbed a bottle and I took her upstairs.
I put her in her cot and I sat next to it giving her the bottle and she slowly dozed off
to sleep. I sat there watching her for a few minutes when Maddy appeared at the door.

So I got up and I walked over to the door and I closed it, so we were out in the hallway and I hugged her.
“What are you doing here? Everyone from our pack was sent home.” I said.
“I know. But word travels fast. We heard about the vampires. I’m sorry. I know that
they were your friends.” She said.
“We’re going to find the bastards that did this.” I said.
“I have no doubt about that.” She said.
So we walked downstairs to the kitchen where I made coffee and we sat at the dining table talking about anything and everything that was going on at the moment. Everything that was going through my head. Everything I was feeling about the whole situation and the more I talked about it, the angrier I got.
