Chapter 131
12 MONTHS LATER
I was sitting at the dining table with Aiden as we were eating breakfast and he was talking about how much he was liking school here. We were still in the Nighwalker Pack and Ezra had to go back to the Midnight Pack as he was still their Alpha.
We didn’t see as much of each other as we used to. Obviously, we used to see each other every day. But now, we were just seeing each other when we could. He wanted me to go back to the Midnight pack, but I was afraid that if I did that then if Savannah was found no one would know where to take her.
She was taken from this pack and this is where I felt closer to her. So, I stayed here with Aiden and he was going to school now and loving it. I was dealing with pack issues and trying to stay ahead of everything that needed to be done around here.
I was keeping myself pretty busy now because that’s all I really had to do to keep myself sane.
As soon as Aiden was finished with breakfast I walked him to school and watched him go off to his classroom with his friends and I stood there watching him for a little while before my phone started ringing.
I looked at the caller ID and it said Ezra. I pondered for a moment before I hit the ‘ignore’ button and then I started walking back to where the warriors were training. They all seemed to be in good shape and I had to go to all the businesses in this pack to see what supplies they needed.
They handed me their supply list and I took them back to the packhouse and I faxed them away to our suppliers and then I sat down to do some paperwork.
There were a few people that were requesting to change their jobs because they weren’t happy where they were, so I got on the computer to see if there were any available positions for the jobs that they wanted.
A lot of kids had just come home from college as well and they were needing jobs in their specific fields. So that was going to make everything so much harder and jobs were getting alot more scarce around the pack.
I had to try and figure out what I was going to do about that So I sat there looking at the paper work and there were dozens of people waiting for a job. Especially the people in the medical field.
We don’t require them to do the full four years of med school. They just need a couple of pre med classes because werewolves heal really fast and the doctors and nurses don’t need to have as much knowledge as humans do.
I stopped eventually for lunch and I went to the kitchen to get something to eat. There was no one around the packhouse anymore. I only had people come in and clean a couple times a week, otherwise it was just me and Aiden.
I didn’t mind doing all the cooking and that crap for him. I’m his mother. It’s what we do. But my phone started ringing again and this time it was Jax.
I still didn’t want to talk to him because I knew that Ezra had made him call me. Only because I was ignoring Ezra’s phone calls.
Lately whenever Ezra and I talk, we just end up in a fight. And that wasn’t something I was in the mood for today.
I finished as much paperwork as I possibly could that day before I had to get Aiden from school and we stopped at the park so he could play with his friends and I made small alk with the mothers. Like a good mother should.
I could tell that they were always nervous to talk to me. Like they were afraid that they were going to say the wrong thing or something. I don’t know. But as soon as he been playing for long enough I told him that it was time to head home.

As soon as we got there I started making dinner and we sat down eating it together and he told me everything he did that day at school.
After dinner we watched a movie together like we always did and then we did Aiden’s homework together and after that he had a bath and then it was time for bed.
As soon as he got into bed I read him a story and he finally drifted off to sleep,
I went to my room where I had a shower and stood under the hot water for a long time trying to ease all of the aches and pains that I had all over my body. Just from stress
I walked out of the bathroom wearing a towel and as soon as I stepped into my bedroom I jumped from the scare! got of seeing a man standing there.
“Ezra. What the hell? You scared the crap out of me.” I said.
“Well, I figured that this was the only way you would talk to me.” He said. And I walked through to the wardrobe where I got dressed into a singlet and tracksuit pants.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve just been really busy.” I said, sitting on the bed,
“No. You’re ignoring me. And it stops, right now.” He said, getting in my face.
“Ezra. I’m new at being Alpha. There’s a lot of shit that I have to do and I am doing it on my own. You know that.” I said
“Well, that’s because you chose it that way. You wanted to do it that way because you refuse to come home.” He said.
“You don’t understand…” I said.
“This is where Savannah was taken from. You think that if she’s found, this is where they are going to bring her back to.” He said. And I looked away after he said that. “We still have people searching They’re not going to stop. Believe me. But that doesn’t mean that we have to stop being a family because she’s not here. We will never stop loving her. We will never stop thinking about her. We will never stop searching for her.” He demanded.
“What are you really doing here?” I asked.
“I’m giving you a choice. You and Aiden either come home with me tomorrow. Or we reject each other and go our seperate ways with our seperate packs.” He said.
As soon as he said the word ‘reject’ it felt like my heart stopped.
Had I really put this much of a strain on our relationship? It must have been consuming me more than I thought.
As much as I miss Savannah and love my baby, I don’t want to lose Ezra either.
He’s given me a choice and I know that I have to choose now. I’ve never seen him
so serious before. He was fully prepared to reject me and move on. “Okay.” I said.
“Okay what?” He asked.
“We’ll start packing in the morning” I said. So he walked over to me again and he wrapped his arms around me.
As much as I hated being given ultimatums, I wasn’t going to loose my family like this. Savannah was going to need us together when she comes home. That much I knew
