Chapter 137
LILLY POV
As I got dressed that morning I walked out of my dorm room and I went to the mess hall where all the other soldiers were and I grabbed a tray and started piling it up with food.
I went and sat at a table that had a seat free for me and I started digging into my food.
“So, how did it go last night?” Jason asked.
“I’m gonna get my ass chewed out later. I didn’t get it.” I said.
“Well, it was your first mission. I don’t think they are gonna chew you out for that. They are just going to talk to you about it. They’re gonna want to see what happened.” He said.
“I guess. But I feel like a complete failure.” I said. But he bumped his shoulder into me playfully.
“You will never be a failure. It was your first mission and no one knows what it’s like going up against werewolves until you’re actually there. We can train until we are bleeding and can barely move. That’s still not enough to prepare us to actually be out there with them.” Jason said. I smiled at him and nodded my head.
I still felt like a failure. I was sent there for a specific mission and I failed. I don’t know why they asked me to do it.
But then I started thinking about Luna Morgan. I’d seen a photo of her and she’s the one that stopped me. She definitely wasn’t anyone to mess with. She looked very protective of her pack and her family. I definitely underestimated her.
But why did she call me Savannah? Who the hell is Savannah?
She had to have had me mixed up with someone else. But I couldn’t stop thinking about her.
As soon as breakfast was over I was asked to go and see the Captain. So I went straight to his office and he asked
me to come inside.
I stood on the other side of his desk with my arms around behind my back.
“So, what happened last night?” He asked.
“I’m very sorry Captain. Luna Morgan saw me and tackled me. She stopped me from getting to the house. She also knocked my hood off. Unfortunately, she saw my face.” I explained.
“And what happened after that?” He asked.
“Well, it was really strange. She seemed to freeze for a moment and she called me Savannah.” I said. And he leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms.
“And what did you do?” He asked.
“I shot her and ran for the forest. I’m very sorry that I failed, sir. I must have just grazed her because I heard her get up and she ran after me. I only just managed to get away” I explained.
“Well, at least you managed to get away.” Captain Williams said. And I saw out the window that there were choppers being filled with equipment.
“Sir, is there another mission?” I asked.
“Yes. We’re attacking another pack tonight.” He said.
“Sir, I would really like to go with them. I think with the more experience I get in the field then the better I will get.” I said.

“That’s not necessary. Not for this mission. I’ll let you know when we are attacking the Midnight Pack again. You are dismissed.” He said. So I nodded and I walked out of his office. But I stood there for a moment thinking about what he just said.
“Why does he just want me when we’re attacking the Midnight pack?” I asked myself.
I knew something was going on, but it must be above my paygrade because they aren’t telling me. And that means I’m not allowed to ask either. I just have to shut up and take their orders.
So I headed out to the field behind the base and I started running the obstacle course. But I didn’t stop at just once. I ran it over and over again. Until my fingers started bleeding from the ropes I was climbing and the wooden walls that I was climbing.
Jason finally caught up with me and he got me to stop when he saw my hands and I was really out of breath and dripping with sweat.
“They aren’t going to send me on another mission.” I said.
“They rarely send newbies on two missions in a row. Don’t take it personally.” Jason said.
“I really thought that I was making great progress around here.” I said.
“Are you kidding? You’re the top of the class. You’re better than us upper classmen at this base.” Jason said.
“Then why did I fail? Why am I being benched today?” I asked.
“You worry too much. Come on. Let’s go do some other training and give your hands a rest.” He said.
So we walked over to the shooting range and we grabbed out weapons and we filled them with silver bullets because those are the only kinds of bullets that us Hunters had and we started shooting at the targets.
But then we started running the obstacle course where we had to do several different monouvers in order to hit our target of werewolves and vampires.
There were so many more werewolves than vampires in the world. And they were easier to find because they actually lived in packs. Vampires rarely lived with more than a couple of other vampires. If they lived with any at all. They were the harder ones to find.
When we were finished with target practice we went to get some lunch and then I went to sit outside for a while to get do some paperwork about the attack last night.
Everything needed to be filed and it all needed to be done straight away with every attack. But then my trainer Hayes came outside and sat on the ground leaning against the same tree as me.
“I heard about last night and I heard that you’re beating yourself up about it.” He said.
“Why does the Captain only want me going after the Midnight pack?” I asked.
“I didn’t know that he did.” Hayes said.
“He said that he’ll let me know when we’re attacking the midnight pack again and I’ll
be going on that mission. He doesn’t want me going on any other missions.” I said.
“I’ll try and find out for you.” He said.
“Thanks. I knew I could count on you.” I said.
“Don’t mention this to anyone else.” He said.
“I won’t. Also, the Luna of that pack called me Savannah. Ion’t know why.” I said.

“Leave it with me.” Hayes said. And he got up and walked back into the building.
I knew that if anyone was going to find out the truth then it would be Hayes. And he wasn’t just going to ask the Captain either. He was going to make sure that he actually finds out the truth.
