Chapter 138
AIDEN POV
I know that I joke around a lot with my mother and she loves the way I am with my brothers and sister, especially my sister. But everyone knows that she never fully recovered from loosing Savannah. When she got pregnant with the twins, she didn’t even tell anyone. She was afraid that people were going to judge her for having more kids and they were going to think that she’d forgotten about Savannah. But nothing could be further from the truth.
She keeps a photo of Savannah in her purse and in her bedside table. I’ve heard her talking to that photo some nights on the veranda of the house.
I know that’s when she’s missing her the most. When she pulls the photo out and starts actually talking to it.
I remember when Savannah was taken. I was only five but I remember. It’s hard to forget. I thought I was going to lose my mom as well. But luckily my dad was there to bring her back.
And as I am sitting in the office now looking at these still photos of that hunter that mom saw the other night, I am even getting more and more convinced that she’s Savannah. I mean, she looks so much like her. There’s no mistaking the resemblance between her and my mom. And mom was the only one to see her.
There’s an old folklore among our people that we can recognise our kin, even after being separated for years. No one really believes it and no one has seen it happen. But I wouldn’t put it past my mother to be the first one that actually proved it to be correct.
“Aiden.” My best friend Jackson said, knocking on the door as he opened it.
“Yeah.” I said, putting the photos away.
“The chopper’s ready. We have to go.” He said. So I got up and I grabbed my pack and I left the house with Jackson.
The chopper was in the field next to the house and we ran to it with the other warriors and we left the pack together.
Jackson and I have grown up together and known each other ever since I came back to this pack from my mother’s pack. The other one that we lived at for a while.
We went to school together and when I take over as Alpha, Jackson is going to be my Beta. I trust him with my life and that’s why we go on every mission together.
We goof around a lot together, but when shit gets serious, there’s no one I would rather have beside me then him.
The helicopter ride was three hours before we landed at another pack. The pilor was trying to raise them on the radio but there was no answer.
So we landed in the middle of their pack, because they would have recognised the logo on the side of the helicopter and they wouldn’t attack us as they saw us approaching.
But as soon as we landed, I knew that wasn’t going to be an issue.
I got out of the chopper and there was absolutely no one around. I couldn’t see anyone near the packhouse or surrounding areas.
“Alright everyone. Split up in teams of three and let’s clear his whole pack.” I ordered.
So we all split up and I headed straight for the packhouse.
I kicked the door open and I went inside with my two warriors and we cleared the
first floor, then the second and then the third. There was no one there.

So we checked the dungeon below the packhouse and it was empty as well.
We left the packhouse and started heading towards town and Jackson came running over to me.
“Stop.” Jackson said.
“What?” I asked.
“Everyone’s in the meeting hall.” He said. So I looked over his shoulder at the meeting hall and I pushed past him and I walked to the hall and up the front stairs.
I really wasn’t prepared for what I found when I went inside.
It was the entire pack. Men, women and children. They had all been rounded up. Some had been wounded or killed outside because we could see the bloody drag marks that were made outside and they led into the meeting hall.
I pulled out my phone and I called dad straight away. I put him on facetime and I showed him what I was looking at right now.
So he told me to take photos. Get all the evidence that we needed that the pack was gone.
“What do I do about the dead?” I asked.
“I’ll leave that up to you.” Dad said. And he hung up.
So I turned around and told all 18 warriors to go and find shovels, probably in backyards, and start digging graves in the field next to the packhouse.
So they ran off to do that while I went inside and I had to take photos of every single person that was in there. Every single dead man, woman and child.
Jackson stayed to help me because he knew that this was going to be hard on me. But I was glad that the kids were with their mothers. I was going to bury them together so they could be together forever. They would want it that
way.
“There weren’t any messages or anything.” Jackson said.
“There didn’t need to be. It was the Hunters. Only they would do something like this.” I said.
“Why didn’t they do this to our pack?” He asked.
“That’s a good question. And one that I’m sure my mother is trying to figure out right now.” I said. So Jackson turned to face me.
“Is it wrong of me to actually feel sorry for these Hunters when your mother gets her hands on them?” He asked. But I scoffed at him.
“It is wrong to feel sorry for them. But I know what you mean. She’s going to tear them apart.” I said.
As soon as the graves were dug, we made sure that they were all given a makeshift cross as we buried them so people would know that the field was now a cemetery.
As soon as we finished doing that, we headed back to the chopper and went home. With no one saying a single word. Not after what we just did. But I knew burying them and giving them a proper grave was the right thing to
