Chapter 19
When mom got home that night I had managed to make dinner for her and she was really surprised when she got home.
“Where did all this food come from?” She asked.
“A good samaritan. I don’t really know. It was already here when I got home.” I said.
“You have no idea who would have done this? Are you sure it’s not poisoned?” Mom asked.
“I’m sure. I’ve been snacking on food all afternoon and I feel fine.” I said.
“Alright. I wonder who could have done all of this?” She asked.
“I don’t know. But I’m not sorry that they did.” I said.
“Me either. I forgot what a great cook you are.” She said.
“Thank you.” I said.
As soon as we finished eating dinner together, mom went to have a shower and I cleared the table and washed the dishes.
Mom did this all day at work. She didn’t need to be doing it when she came home as well.
Once she was finished in the shower, I went to have one. But thanks to our lousy hot water system, it was a pretty cold shower. But I was used to those. Even in winter.
I rugged up as much as I could when I got out and put on as many warm clothes as
I could before I got on the couch and got comfortable for the night.
I went to work the following morning. The same as usual and as we were unloading
the first truck, Jack had to come out and sign off on it before we could start sorting through it and giving it to our smaller delivery trucks.
He lingered around the warehouse for a while, with his back against the wall watching us all work.
“I see you do seem to be the favorite. He’s never paid this much attention to a new employee before.” A woman teased me p>
“Well, I’ve already told you. He’s barking up the wrong tree.” I said.
“I’m sure he is. Or maybe it’s your lucky day. We all know who you are. Can you really afford to turn any wolf down? I mean, no one else is going to claim you. Why not just get it over and done with?” She asked.
“When I want your opinion I’ll give it to you. Until then, get the fuck out of my face.” I said, standing up and staring her straight in the face. 3
I might be an omega, but I’m also known as an omega who can take care of herself when she needs to. I can kick anyone’s ass if I really need to. And they also know that I survived that rogue attack the other night. That’s probably more action than anyone in this warehouse has seen.
“Is there a problem here?” Jack asked, walking up behind us.
“I don’t know. Is there?” The woman asked me.
“I don’t have a problem.” I said, still staring straight at her. So Jack turned to face the woman who’s name I haven’t even bothered to learn yet.

“I suggest you get your ass back to work.” Jack said to her. So she turned on her heels and went back over to her working station while I stayed where I was. “Morgan. You don’t need to put up with that kind of crap. If anyone here gives you a hard time, please let me know. You have to tell me.” Jack said.
“That’s very kind of you, sir. But I don’t need any help. Everything’s fine.” I said.
“Well, if you change your mind then you know where I am.” He said. And I nodded, so he walked back to his office.
As soon as I finished work that day I walked out the back door of the shop, which is the way we were meant to leave and I saw that same woman standing there waiting for me.
“Aren’t you a little too old to be playing these games?” I asked.
“Are you a little too arrogant to be talking back to me? I may have the same job as you, but I still outrank you in the pack.” She said.
“Does it look like I really give a shit about that?” I asked.
“It fucking should. What if I go to the Alpha right now and say that you’re
disrespecting me?” She asked.
“Do it.” I said, calmly.
“Excuse me.” She said.
“Don’t make a threat unless you intend to follow through. Now, if you’re going to dob on me to the Alpha for some little bullshit infraction like this, then do it. If you think he’s not going to be pissed with you for wasting his time, then call him up and tell him that I am disrespecting you.” I said.
One of her friends nudged her from behind, so she turned to look at her and the friend was shaking her head.
We all knew that the Alpha would punish her as much as me because he didn’t have time for these stupid little
conflicts.
“You just wait and see. This isn’t the last you’re going to hear about this.” She said.
