Chapter 207

A MONTH LATER

Ben and I had finally come to an agreement to go back to his homepack. It took us four hours to drive there to the Starlight Pack and Ben drove straight up to his family home.

It obviously wasn’t as big as mom and dad’s but it was still a big house and when

we got out of the car someone opened the door and walked outside onto the veranda.

“Oh damn. What the hell is he doing here?” Ben asked, coming around to walk next to me.

“Who is he?” I asked.

“My older brother. He left before our parents died and he never even came back for the funeral.” Ben said.

“Oh.” I said.

We walked upstairs to the veranda and the guy that was standing there was blocking the doorway, staring at Ben.

“Jace.” Ben said.

“I didn’t think we were ever going to see you again.” Jace said.

“Funny. I said the same thing about you.” Ben said.

Looking at the tension between the two I stepped in front of Ben slightly and held my hand out.

“Hi. I’m Savannah.” I said.

He looked down at me and he looked me up and down before he started shaking my hand.

“I’ve heard all about you. Weren’t you a hunter?” Jace asked.

“She was kidnapped by hunters when she was 6 months old. She’s a werewolf now and she’s accepted that.” Ben said, sizing up against his older brother. “Now, are you going to move or am I going to make you?” Ben asked.

Jace stared at him for a long time before he smirked and he stepped to the side.

When we walked inside I was really impressed by the house. It wasn’t what I was expecting. It was something that looked like it had really been taken care of.

It wasn’t a bachelor pad.

But then we were soon approached by a bunch of people that looked a little happier to see Ben.

“Savannah. This is my sister Leah and her mate Cory. And their kids Aly and Gracie.” Ben said.

“It’s really nice to meet you.” Leah said.

“It’s nice to meet you too.” I said.

“They’re the ones that live here now. They took over the house after I left.” Ben explained.

“It’s a beautiful home.” I said.

But I saw Ben looking around and I could tell that he was picking apart everything. “You got rid of dad’s chair?” Ben asked.

“No. It’s in the den. I told you that I wasn’t going to get rid of anything unless you wanted me to.” Leah said.

“You’re welcome to take it if you want. Unless you guys are staying here. You weren’t clear on that.” Cory said.

“We’re just visiting. We like the pack that we are living in now.” Ben said.

“What’s not to like. Your mates parents are Alpha Ezra and Luna Morgan. They’re infamous.” Jace said, walking into the room and grabbing a beer.

“What would you know about it? You don’t even know them.” Ben snapped.

“That’s because we never had an invitation.” Jace said, sitting at the kitchen table.

“Since when has that ever stopped you.” Ben yelled. So I grabbed Ben’s hand trying to calm him down.

want him getting into a punch up with his brother straight away.

I mean, there’s obviously a lot of other stuff there that I don’t know about and they obviously have history, but that doesn’t mean that

they need to bring others

throats out.

“Why are you here Ben? You said you were never coming back after what happened

to mom and dad.” Jace said.

“That’s why I’m here. I was young

and didn’t know what I know now I

didn’t have the resources that have

help me

now. Savannah is going to he

try and find out who killed them.”

Ben said.

Jace and Leah both looked at each other with a weird looks on their faces and Ben was starting to tense up.

“What?” He asked.

“Why do you want to bring all this shit up again?” Jace asked.

“Because the people that killed them shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it. They were slaughtered and they deserve justice.” Ben said.

Jace just looked towards the window, staring outside while Leah and Cory stayed really quiet.

“We’ll be back later. Come on babe.” Ben said, holding my hand and we left the house.

We got back in the car and we drove to the other side of the pack and pulled up out the back of the hospital.

We went to the morgue and the medical examiner was in there sitting at his desk doing some paperwork.

“How can I help you?” He asked.

“I’m here because I want to see the file on my parents death.” Ben said.

“What are your parents names?”

“Joyce and Rob Lowe.” Ben said.

The medical examiner looked at us both a bit suspiciously before he walked over to the filing cabinet.

He started rifling through the cabinets before he finally closed it and he turned back to look at us.

“I’m sorry. It doesn’t seem that their files are here.” The medical examiner said.

“Well, what the hell happened to them?” Ben asked.

“The Alpha requested them. They never came back.” He said.

Ben looked at me with pure anger in his eyes before he barged out of the hospital

and I went running after him.

“Ben. Are you going to tell me what is going on?” I asked.

“Have you noticed how everyone is acting so weird whenever I mention my parents?

Almost like they don’t want me asking questions?” Ben asked.

“Yeah. I picked up on that.” I said.

“So, what the hell are they all hiding?” Ben asked.

Ben looked up past the hospital at the packhouse that was perched on the hill and I

knew that was going to be our next stop. It had to be.

Why would the Alpha be so interested in his parents death? Something wasn’t

adding up here.

I agreed with Ben and we needed to get to the bottom of it. He would be able to rest

until he did.
