Chapter 208

As soon as we got to the packhouse I was surprised to see how many guards he had surrounding the house.

I got out of the car really cautiously and Ben walked around and grabbed a hold of my hand.

“What’s wrong?” Ben asked.

“Why are there so many guards?” I asked.

“He always has that. And a lot of paranoia.” He said.

“Maybe he’s hiding more than we realize.”

Ben started walking up the stairs and the guard that was standing beside the door mind linked the Alpha to tell him that we were here.

So we were shown inside and taken to the Alpha’s office.

As soon as we walked into the office Ben bared his neck to the Alpha but he stood next to his desk staring at me.

“I heard you found your mate. The illusive Savannah. The girl that went missing for 16 years. Their daughter.” The Alpha said, screwing up his nose.

“You mean Morgan and Ezra?” I asked.

“What do I owe the pleasure, Ben?” He asked, walking around behind his desk and ignoring my question.

What did this guy have against my parents? They didn’t do anything to him. Not that I know of. They wouldn’t have let me come here if they thought I was going to be in danger of an Alpha that hates them.

“Alpha Silvermen. I am here because I need to know about my parents death. I went to see the medical examiner but he said that you took the files. I’ve never known an Alpha to take files like that before.” Ben explained.

“I have every right to. It’s my pack.” Alpha Silvermen said, leaning back on his chair.

Something about this Alpha wasn’t sitting right with me. He just seemed to be too cavalier about the whole situation.

It’s obviously not normal for him to do something like that unless he’s hiding something. But he’s acting like it’s completely fine.

“Please? I know that I didn’t care about it at the time. All I cared about was the fact that my parents were dead. I want to know what happened to them. They were murdered and I want to make sure that whoever killed them pays for it.” Ben explained.

“Well, you’re a little late. Your parents died years ago and you disappeared after that. I did hear that you had joined Ezra’s pack. Maybe you should have stayed there with your beautiful little mate here and left well enough alone.” Silvermen said.

“He has a right to know what happened to his parents.” I said. But Ben looked at me like he was trying to get me to stop talking.

He knew that I hadn’t been in the werewolf community for very long and I probably didn’t know the rules. But from what I’ve seen, it’s much like the army. There’s a hierarchy to the way these packs work. And the Alpha is obvious the one in charge.

I already knew all of that. But that doesn’t mean that he gets to be a dick about Ben’s parents death.

“Ben. Your parents’ murderer has been dealt with.” Silvermen said.

“You know who did it?” Ben asked, surprised.

“Of course I do. It was a pack of rogues that killed them. We found the rogues, they admitted it and they were executed. Now, if that’s all you want to know. I think you should probably leave now.” Silvermen said.

Suddenly the door opened behind us and a couple of guards walked in.

Ben looked a little hesitant but we didn’t really have a choice at this point. We had to leave.

We got in the car and Ben started driving around aimlessly. I don’t think he even really knew where he was going. But he finally pulled over by the side of the road with the forest on both sides of the road.

We were still in pack territory but it was really peaceful here. “Do you believe what he said about your parents?” I asked.

“No. Because it’s all bullshit. I remember hearing talks about vampires when they died. I didn’t pay much attention or much care at the But why would he lie te He’s

ying to me now by saying that rogues did it. Something isn’t adding up here.” Ben said. Contént belongs

“How high up were your parents in the pack? I mean, they had a really nice house. And I know that only happens when they are higher ranking members.” I said. And Ben started nodding his head.

“He was the Gamma of the pack. It was his job to protect the Luna at all times.” Ben said.

“Alright. So, your father was in a high position, working closely with the Alpha. He was mated, the Luna was mated. Why would the Alpha lie

about how he died meat

they

would have had to be friends. He would have had to trust your father.” I said. And Ben turned to look at me

strangely.

“He didn’t trust my dad. I remember dad coming home one night saying that he got

in a fight with the Alpha. The Luna wasn’t the Alpha’s fated mate.” Ben explained.

“Then who was her destined mate?”

“I have no idea.”

“Then we need to find out. Because I think she’s got something to do with this.” I said.

Ben looked at me really confused, but he didn’t really know what the hell I was trying to get at.

We headed back into town where Ben made a few calls and then we had to hang around town for a while.

As it was starting to get dark we went to get something to eat and as we were leaving the diner, we ran into another girl that was there with her friends.

She recognised Ben immediately and got a wide smile on her face. But it quickly faded when she saw Ben put his arm around me.

“She’s a little young for you, don’t you think?” The girl asked.

“I didn’t ask the Moon Goddess who I wanted as my mate.” Ben said.

“She’s your fucking mate?” The woman yelled.

“Brittany. Keep your voice down. I know you like to make a scene everywhere you

go, but I don’t.” Ben snapped at her.

“You left without even saying goodbye to me.” She said.

“In case you hadn’t noticed, I just lost my parents and I wasn’t exactly myself at the

time.”

“So, how long until you met her?” Brittany asked, gesturing towards me.

“A couple months ago. I was living in another pack and she was there.” Ben explained. I guess he didn’t want to get into the whole story of how I used to be a hunter.

“Well, good for you. You finally found your mate. I hope you have a very miserable life together.” She spat as she walked past us and she went into the diner.

“Wow. That bitch is wound a little too tight.” I said.

“Yeah. She’s just pissed cause I never told her that I was leaving. But her always needing to be the centre of attention. That’s still the same.” Ben said as he started pulling me along the sidewalk.

Ww had a bit of time to waste before we ended up at the park and I saw two guys standing by the treeline in the park.

Ben stopped and took a deep breath before he looked at me and I could tell that he was nervous. I mean, who wouldn’t be?
