Chapter 210
I was letting it all sunk in and I tried to choose my words carefully. I knew that if
people thought he was investigating the Alpha, then he would be the one that was in a lot of trouble.
But if we had proof that he did it, that be a reason to get rid of that Alpha.
“Are you absolutely sure the Alpha killed them?” I asked.
“I wasn’t absoutely sure. Not until today. Not until I got back here. I knew that something wasn’t right. The Alpha taking the ME reports. The Luna not being here. So many guards around the packhouse.” Ben said.
“You said that they were always like that.”
“I lied. I just didn’t want to freak you out. They weren’t there until he heard that I was coming back into town.”
“How do you know that?” I asked. And he handed me a peice of scrunched up paper. So I took a look at it.
He knows that you know something. Be careful. He’s going to have everyone watching you. He already knew that you’d been to the ME. Watch your back. And don’t depend on your brother or sister to help either.
“Who’s this from?” I asked.
“Beta Luke. Just as we were leaving the packhouse.”
“Isn’t this proof?”
“No. It can be argued that Luke is as delusional as me and that we’re in this together.”
“Well, isn’t that a coincidence.”
“Yeah. Which is why I need hard proof. A lot of it as well.”
“What are you going to do when you have this proof?”
“I don’t know yet. But Leah and Jace obviously know more than they are letting on about.”
My phone ringing brought us out of the really serious conversation and I saw that it
was mom.
“Hey. That was fast.” I said.
“Yeah. Wasn’t too hard. Does she want to be hidden?” Mom asked.
“I assume so. But we’re not sure at the moment.” I said.
Mom was silent on the phone for a long time after that I could hear dad in the background but I couldn’t hear anything that he was saying.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“It didn’t take me long to find her because she’s not hiding. I mean, everything is right here on the dark web. Which is strange. Because there are even surveillance photos.” Mom said.
I looked at Ben and then I put the phone on speaker and asked her to repeat what she just told me. So she did and Ben looked at me strangely.
“No one ever posts pictures on the dark web in case humans come across it.” Ben said.
“Exactly. Someone has been spying on this woman for the last six years.” Mom said. “That’s how long mom and dad have been dead.” Ben said.
I was standing there really dumbfounded by everything that I was hearing.
I was dumbfounded by the fact that this kind of shit happened in wolfpacks.
I was raised to believe that they all got along and they all fought on the same side to eradicate humans. But that’s not the case at all.
There are feuds between wolf packs as well. And I’m realizing that everything those bastards taught me when I was growing up was a bullshit lie. Nothing was the truth.
It didn’t matter anymore. Mom and dad made sure the Hunters were wiped out and honestly I am the only one left. For obvious reasons.
“Where is she?” Ben asked.
“She’s living in a town called
Richmond. There’s only 1500 people in that town so they are going to notice new people when you show up. And she’s already got people watching her… Whatever she’s into Savannah, I don’t want you getting involved.” Mom said. And looked at Ben who nodded his head. So I ran through the whole story and told mom everything about what’s happened and what we’ve found out.
“Alright. We’ll figure out what we can on this end You two be careful. Don’t get yourselves killed. And once you find out the truth, get the hell out of there. That Alphe will kill you if he finds out that you know the truth.” Mom said.
“Don’t worry. We’re not staying here any longer than we have to.” I said.
As soon as I got off the phone, Ben got off the bed and grabbed his keys.
“What are you doing?”
“We have to get to her house in the middle of the night so no one sees us. We have to get there now.” Ben said.
So we left the house and we drove the three hours to Richmond. So it was 2am when we arrived there and we went straight to the address that mom had sent us.
It was a nice little house, but definitely nothing like the packhouse or anything as luxurious.
We pulled up a couple doors down from her and we crept up the street and into her yard.
We went around the back and we looked in the back of the house.
Sally was in bed, or she wasn’t home. Because everything was turned off and I walked around to the back door of the house and I knelt down and started picking the lock.
“Something else the hunters taught you?” Ben asked.
“Of course.” I said.
Once I got the door opened we walked inside the house, making sure that we were looking out for anyone who might be watching us and we closed the door behind us.
“How’s your night vision?” Ben whispered.
“I think it’s perfect. I can see everything.” I said.
“Good. So you won’t be running into furniture.” Ben said.
“No.”
So we walked through the backroom and into the kitchen and then we started looking around and I found some mail of hers on the counter.
“It’s definitely the right house.” I said, showing Ben the name on the envelopes.
He nodded his head and we walked through the dining room and into the living
room.
It was a pretty basic house. She didn’t have much furniture or anything like that.
It actually looked like she was living a very minimal lifestyle.
We started walking up the hallway when suddenly a bat came flying out of one of the rooms and Ben ducked it just in time but caught it just after
it hit the wall. I yanked on the bat and a woman was pulled out of her bedroom and into the hallway with us.
“Sally. It’s me.” Ben said. So she stopped fighting and she turned around to look at
Ben who was standing behind her and definitely not wanting to hurt her.
