Chapter 30

I sat there face to face with a vampire while he stood very still staring back at me.

“You don’t look scared.” He said.

“Should I be?” I asked.

“No. But most people usually are scared when they see a vampire.” He said.

“Well, you have yellow eyes.” I said.

“Meaning?” He asked.

“You don’t kill people for food. You kill animals. The ones that feed on humans always have red eyes. Constant red eyes.” I said.

“They were right about you. You are a smart one.” He said.

“Who was right?” I asked.

“That’s not important right now. I was sent here to have a little chat with you.” He said.

“About what?” I asked.

“About shifting in front of an audience. That is the dumbest thing you could possibly do.” He said.

“What?” I asked, confused.

“White wolves are rare. We only know of about five in existence. And you shifted last night in front of a lot of rogues. What if one of them got away and blabbed about you?” He asked.

“I was protecting my mother. And we killed all the rogues so how the hell do you know that I’m a white wolf?” I asked.

“Because my family has been watching this pack for a long time.” He said.

“Your family? What is this? Someone sort of Charles Mason sort of thing?” I asked. And he smirked at me.

“No. Vampires mate for life as well. And we just happen to be a family. We believe that we’re more civilized because we don’t feed on humans.” He said.

“You know, my guard will be back soon and I don’t think he’s gonna like seeing you here.” I said.

“I know. I just came to tell you to be careful. I know of Alpha’s out there looking for white wolves.” He said.

“Why? It’s not like we can do anything.” I said.

“They’re experimenting on white wolves. Apparently your DNA is different to the rest

of the werewolves. Something like that. I don’t really know. But you need to be careful.” He said.

“What’s your name?” I asked.

He looked at me with hesitation on his face before he finally relaxed a little.

“It’s Cory.” He said. 5

“And I’m guessing you know my name.” I said.

“Morgan Jameson. I have to go, your guard is coming back.” He said, walking towards the door again. “Oh, and just so you know. My whole family thinks that you can do better than Alpha Logan. And he isn’t the only one who can reject that mating.” Cory said. 2

“I know that. I’m just worried about what he’s going to do to me if I reject him p>

“He won’t be able to do anything if you’re already on your way out of town when you’re doing it.” He said, turning to me and smirking.

He then disappeared from my trailer only moments before Ace got back.

“Are you alright?” Ace asked, as he walked into the trailer.

guess he could see the confusion on my face. It wasn’t hard to hide.

“Yeah. Everything’s fine.” I said.

suddenly heard a lot of noise outside, around the trailer. Wolves running past and howling, snarling and growling.

Ace looked out the window and I saw his eyes change color. He was mind linking with someone.

“What’s going on?” I asked, standing up.

“It’s alright. The warriors are just doing a sweep.” He said.

“Why?” I asked.

“It’s nothing you need to worry about p>

“They’re surrounding my home. I think it is something that I need to worry about.” I said.

“A vampire was spotted in these woods. Not long ago. They’re searching for him.” He said.

“How the hell could a vampire get in here undetected?” I asked.

“They move a lot faster than us and they don’t leave a scent like we do.” He said.
