“Is that all now? Is it safe to walk out of here or do you want me to wait until night time?” I asked.
“Why are you always such a smart ass?” He asked.
“Because I can be. And because no one in this pack has earned my respect for me not to be a smart ass.” I said.
“You know that I’m not the one that punished you and your mother after your father died.” He said.
“I know that. But you haven’t done anything to correct it, have you?” I asked.
“What?” He asked.
“You haven’t tried to get us out of that trailer. You haven’t tried to pay my mother what every other omega earns around here. She gets paid less than everyone which is why she has so many jobs. Just to pay the fucking bills. Which you keep increasing.” I said.
“It can’t be that bad.” He said.
“Do you really think that we would still be living in that trailer if we had a choice?” I asked.
“Well, there’s nothing I can do about it now. There aren’t any houses available. Not until the new ones get built.” He said.
“Save your time. Don’t worry about it. Those houses will be too new for us to live in. Too nice for us to have. You’ll have the whole pack questioning you again. And you don’t want to seem like you’re going soft.” I said.
“What the hell would you know about it?” He asked.
“I know that you’re an arrogant prick, just like your father. He taught you well. He made sure that you had the perfect girlfriend that would ensure this pack had a fighting chance if you ever needed it. To make alliances with other packs.
He set your entire life in motion before you could even walk. Probably before you were even born.” I said.
“You don’t know anything.” He said.
“Yeah, I do. I’m a hell of a lot more observant than you think. And my father used to be the head warrior. So, while you were away at Alpha training and you were off and about while your father was still the Alpha here. I heard a lot of shit that I probably shouldn’t have. Because I was just a kid. Your father probably thought I was an idiot as well, just because I was young. But I heard everything.” I explained
“Like what?” Logan asked, crossing his arms.
“Like how he had already chosen the perfect mate for you. A girl called Penelope. She was picked out for you from the time I was 10. That’s when I heard him talking about it.” I said.
“I’ve only been with Penelope for a couple of years, Are you saying that it was all a set up p>
“Yeah. She was made into what they knew you would like. So you would accept her as a girlfriend.” I said.
“I don’t believe this.” He said, shaking his head.
“Believe it. Your father’s an asshole. And like I said, you are showing that you are following in his footsteps. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m gonna go home. I need to take a damn shower.” I said, grabbing my coat and I walked through the kitchen so I could leave out the back door.

I got back to the trailer and I had a shower straight away and I got dressed into some fresh clean clothes. Not one that Jack had his greasy paws all over.
I was just coming out of the bathroom when I caught Logan’s scent.
I walked to the living room and he was there, looking around the room and all of my things stacked up against the wall. All of my belongings, against one wall.
“What are you doing here?” I asked.
But when he turned to look at me, he had a strange look on his face. It was sorrow with a frown.
Nothing like I had ever seen him look before. He actually looked more civilized now than he had ever before.
He didn’t say anything to me as he walked over to me. He raised his hand up and he cupped his hand around my cheek before he pulled me closer into him to kiss him.
I started to hesitate before I just melted in to it and I wrapped my arms around his neck.
