“What’s this?” I asked.
“Your room.” He said.
“What? No way. This is too much. I can stay in one of the dorms where the warriors stay.” I said.
“Absolutely not. You’re not going anywhere near those animals. They will all try and have a crack at you.” He said. But I scoffed at him.
“I really doubt that.” I said.
“Morgan. You’re not an omega here. You’re another werewolf who is a friend of mine and that’s the way you are going to be treated. You can forget about trailers in the middle of the woods. You can forget about working in a crappy warehouse for less than minimum wage. Or waiting tables for tips. This is your home now so get used to it.” He said.
“Why are you doing this? No one has ever cared this much before.” I said.
“I saw the way he treated you. I knew immediately that you were in trouble. And I don’t care who he is or how scary he thinks he is. Now, have a shower and get some sleep. It’s been a big day.” He said.
“Yes, boss.” I said. And he smirked at me as he left the room and he closed the door behind him.
I looked out the window at the view for a minute and I could see the college campus from where I was.
I couldn’t wait to go and check it out. It’s exactly what I wanted. To go to college and actually make something of myself. That was never going to happen back home.
I sat at the desk against the wall first and I grabbed the phone that was sitting there.
It was a brand new cell phone but it was all set up for me.
I dialed the number to the disposable cell phone that Ezra gave me and it started ringing immediately.
“Hello.” Mom answered.
“Mom.” I said.
“Morgan. What the hell?” She asked.
“Are you alright?” I asked.
“No. The warriors were just here. They said that you ran away. You left the territory. Alpha Logan is out there looking for you.” She said.
“I just wanted to call to let you know that I’m alright. You don’t need to worry about me. Keep this phone hidden and I will call you whenever I can. Alright.” I said. “Where are you?” She asked.
“I can’t tell you. Just in case he interrogates you. It’s best if you don’t know. Just know that I’m safe.” I said.
“We don’t have any friends.” She said.
“I do. I’ve made some friends along the way.” I said.
“Alright. I’ll trust you with that.” She said.

“I just don’t want you to get worse so I had to let you know that I am alright.” I said. “I’m not going to get worse.” She said.
“Good. Keep taking care of yourself. Just because I’m not there doesn’t mean that I don’t care if you’re sick or healthy. I want you to be okay as well.” I said.
“I promise. Now that I know you’re safe. Will Alpha Logan find you there?” She asked.
“I doubt he’ll come this far. But if he does, my friends won’t let him near me.” I said.
“Is this because of the engagement?” She asked.
“Yeah.” I said, hesitantly.
“I knew he was going to hurt you. He had no right to use you like that and then get engaged to his girlfriend the very next day.” She said.
“I know. Listen, don’t worry about me. I’m fine. I rejected him after I left the territory. So, there’s a chance that he might think I’m dead. I’m not sure.” I said.
“Okay. If he puts me under Alpha command then I will only tell him what I know.” She said.
“Alright. I love you, mom.” I said.
“I love you too…shit, someone’s at the door. I gotta go.” She said, hanging up.
My heart immediately started racing. I didn’t know what was happening to my mother right now and I started pacing around the room. But that didn’t do me any good.
I sat next to the window and I opened it slightly to have a cigarette.
Please don’t let Logan kill my mother because of me? Goddess, if you really are out there, please protect her.
