Ezra and Nathan could see how important it was for me to get caught up so after dinner Ezra sat in the living room with me and started quizzing me on a few things. Nathan came downstairs looking freshly showered and in pretty nice clothes.

“Man whore.” I said, looking at him and then looking back at the book. But Ezra chuckled.

“You two suck.” Nathan said.

“Oh, you love it.” I teased.

“I’ll see you two in the morning.” He said, leaving the packhouse.

“How old is he?” I asked.

“He’s 19. So, he’s old enough to do whatever the hell he wants.” Ezra said.

“Where are your parents? I haven’t seen them.” I said.

“You probably won’t. They still live on the territory but we don’t have a whole lot to do with them. Now, we’re not here to talk about my family. We’re quizzing you so you know what you’re doing when you start school.” He said.

“Alright.” I said.

Ezra and I stayed up until after midnight as he was helping me study and we’d get distracted a lot by just talking. But he had to get to bed and I needed to get some rest as well.

I spent the whole rest of the week with my head in those books, making sure that I wasn’t going to look like an idiot when I walked onto that college campus.

But by the weekend, I was starting to feel really worn out.

I slept in on both days, which was really odd for me and I was feeling really lethargic. 2

“Alright. No more studying for you. You are emotionally worn out and it’s not going to do you any good for when you start school tomorrow.” Ezra said.

“I know. I’m stopping now.” I said.

“That’s good. Do you have any other plans today?” He asked.

“No. I was thinking I might just take a stroll into town.” I said.

“That sounds like a good idea.” He said.

“Hey, I was just wondering. If I make friends at school. Am I only allowed to invite people back here if they are from this pack?” I asked.

“No. You can invite anyone back, if you want. Just ask me first. Find out what pack they’re from. Some are decent packs but others aren’t.” He said.

“Okay. That’s fair enough.” I said.

I ended up going for a walk into town and I looked around in a few shops and bought a couple of little things before I went back to the packhouse.

Ezra had been trying to give me a credit card all week so I can buy whatever I want, but I refuse to accept it.

I keep telling him that I will find a job, but he’s seen my course load and he doesn’t think that will be possible.

When I got back to the packhouse I went into my room for a little while before I went back downstairs and I grabbed a coffee and sat on the front veranda again.

I saw Ezra running past the house with some warriors but I wasn’t really paying attention to them. I was sort of staring off into space.

Ezra walked up onto the veranda and sat next to me.

“What’s going on?” He asked.

“I think I have to go back home.” I said.

“What? Why? You’ve been working so hard to start your classes tomorrow.” He said.

“I know. And it’s killing me. I’m not even going to be able to go to college now.” I said.

“Morgan. What is this about? All week you have been working your ass off. I’ve

never seen anyone work as hard as you.” He said.

I then reached into my pocket and I handed him something to look at.

“That’s why.” I said.

“A pregnancy test. You’re pregnant?” He asked. 1

“Yeah.” I said.
