Chapter 63
Ezra sat there, keeping his composure. He didn’t let on that anything was wrong and he nodded at me. Letting me know that everything was alright.
“How much do you owe this bastard?” Ezra asked.
“$25 000.” Owen said.
“If you give us the money so we can pay him, you won’t see us again.” Jennifer said, almost like a promise. She knew that the boys didn’t want to see them. But they were trying to get a lot of money out of them.
“Let me look into it and then I will get back to you.” Ezra said.
“Why can’t you just give us the money to pay Alpha Logan?” Owen asked.
“Because I don’t trust that you owe him money. I will call him and confirm it. Otherwise, stay the hell away from this house until I call you here.” Ezra said.
“Can we at least finish dinner?” Jennifer asked.
“Fine.” Ezra relented.
It was pretty quiet all through dinner that night and as soon as we were finished eating, I left the guys with their parents because they made me really uncomfortable.
I went upstairs to my bedroom where I had a shower and got ready for bed.
When I got out of the shower I sat at the desk and started pulling my books out so I could get started on my homework when someone knocked on the door.
“Come in.” I sang out. So the door opened and Jennifer was standing there. “Can we talk?” She asked.
“I don’t think we have anything to talk about. Besides, I’m really busy.” I said.
“I can see that. I know that you’re going to college.” She said.
“Are you spying on me p>
“No. Of course not. It’s a big pack, but word still gets around. I hear that today was your first day.” She said.
“Yeah. It was p>
“How do you like it?” She asked, walking in and sitting on my bed.
“Listen, I don’t know what you think you’re going to get out of me, but you’re wrong.” I said.
“I just want to see if you can try and talk some sense into my sons p>
“I’m not involved in pack business. I’m only here as a guest. I don’t get involved in
any of that crap. That’s something you have to take up with the Alpha p>
“Did he tell you what went down with him and his father?” She asked.
“No. And honestly, I don’t care.” I said.
“You really don’t want to know.” She said.

“That’s what I just said, didn’t I?” I asked.
“Yeah. I guess so.” She said.
“I don’t know what you think you came here to accomplish, but my loyalty is to Alpha Ezra. Not you. I don’t even know you. So, please leave my room now.” I demanded.
She looked at me with narrowed eyes before she got up and left my room.
I waited a couple of minutes before I got up and walked out of my room as well. I
saw Ezra and Nathan in the living room talking and I tell them to follow me.
We walked through the kitchen but stopped at the backdoor. Owen and Jennifer were outside talking, before they headed off home.
“How did you go with the girl?” Owen asked.
“She made it clear. Her loyalty is to Ezra. She kicked me out of her room.” Jennifer said.
“What the hell do they have on this girl to make sure that she stays loyal to them?” Owen asked.
“I don’t know. But whatever it is, it’s working.” Jennifer said.
“Don’t worry. We’ll find another way in. There has to be cracks in the foundation somewhere.” Owen said, before they started to walk away.
“What is that about?” I asked.
“Dad wants the pack back.” Nathan said.
“Did you two fight for the pack?” I asked.
“Yeah.” Ezra said.
“Then he can’t claim it back p>
“He can if he challenges me to a fight to regain his claim to the pack p>
“Do me a favor. Don’t turn your back on him. I have a feeling that he’s not going to play fair.” I said.
“We already know that he won’t play fair.” Nathan said.
“That’s good.” I said.
“I’ll close ranks. Make sure the pack members know what dad is doing. Make sure that my Beta and the pack council knows what’s going on.” Ezra said.
“Good idea. We can’t let him get away with whatever they are trying to get away with. They’ve already had a crack at Morgan and realized that wasn’t going to work.” Nathan said.
I went back up to my room to keep studying for a while when Ezra came to my room and he handed me a piece of paper with a phone number on it.
“What’s this?” I asked.
“The new burner phone that I got to your mother. That’s the phone number.” He said.
“How did you do that?” I asked.

“I know someone in the pack. She moved there when she found her mate. She’ll help me whenever she can. And she’s agreed to keep an eye on your mother for us.” He said.
“Thank you so much.” I said.
“Don’t mention it.” He said.
So I walked back to the desk after Ezra left and I hide my ID on my cell phone and I called the number that he gave
1.
“Hello p>
“Mom. Is that you?” I asked.
“Morgan. Oh my goddess. It is so good to hear your voice. Alpha Logan has pronounced you dead.” She said.
“I don’t know if he’s actually done that or if he’s just trying to scare me into coming out of hiding.” I said.
“Don’t you dare come back here. He’s been searching the trailer every couple of days looking for clues. Hoping that I will have more information about where you are.” She said.
“Well, you don’t know anything. So, you don’t need to worry about that. Are you taking care of yourself?” I asked.
“Yeah. Don’t worry about me. Everything’s fine.” She said.
“I hope so. I don’t want to see you go down because of me p>
“Morgan. Getting out of this house was the best thing you could have ever done.
Don’t you dare regret it now.” She said.
“I don’t regret it. I’m just worried about you.” I said.
“I know. I get that.” She said. Then I heard banging in the background.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“Alpha Logan’s here with warriors. I have to go. Hide the phone.” She said.
“Be careful.” I said. And the line went dead.
I immediately got butterflies in my stomach when she disconnected the call, but I couldn’t call her back. Not while Logan was there. Oh shit, I hope she wasn’t in trouble right now.
Please, Moon Goddess, look out for my mother?
