Chapter 80
“You can’t forsake this prophecy.” Angelo said.
“And why the fuck not? No one has asked me what I want to do? They just assume to tell me that I am going to do it. No one tells me what to do. Not anymore. I got out
of that toxic bullshit pack and I don’t intend on going back.” I said.
“Logan has moved your mother into the packhouse.” Cory said.
“What?” I asked, shocked.
“Yeah. I didn’t think you knew.” He said.
“When the hell did that happen?” I asked.
“Recently. He needed to make sure that he could get a hold of you if you ever reached out to her.”
“My mother told me to stop calling. To live my life and not worry about her. That’s all she ever wanted. Especially after she found out that Logan was my mate.” I said.
“Well, from what I can tell he’s not mistreating her. She’s not in the dungeon, but he’s using her as bait To get to you.” Cory said.
“He could just be saying this to get you to go back there.” Ezra said.
“I’m not doing anything until after I have this baby. It’s the only thing that really matters to me right now.” I said.
“Is it Logan’s?” Bonnie asked.
“That’s none of your fucking business.” Ezra snapped at her.
“It was a simple question. You know that I never meant to hurt you. I met Córy first.” Bonnie said. 1
“And is that supposed to make me feel better?” Ezra asked.
“We’re getting off course here. We need to make Morgan believe that she’s the only hope.” Sergio said.
“The only hope for what?” I asked.
“For the impending war. You need to take your place at the head of that pack before the war begins. Otherwise werewolves will be an extinct species.
“How the hell am I supposed to stop that from happening? What am I supposed to do about that? If I take over then I will just simply be another Alpha. I don’t have any special abilities.” I said.
“You are you. And that’s what the werewolves need.
“And does that bullshit book say when this war is meant to begin?” I asked.
“It’s not meant to happen for a while.” Cory said.
“When?” I demanded.
“Years. But we’re already preparing. We need you to take your place and to make sure that the pack you are taking from Logan has your loyalty.” Cory said.
“Well, that’s never going to happen. Everyone in that pack hates me.” I said.

“You need to make them show you loyalty. You have to win them over. That’s why we’re here now. It’s not going to be easy, but we know that it’s you who is meant to lead this rebellion.”
“Who are we meant to be going to war with?” Nathan asked. And I looked at the other like it was a brilliant question. None of us had thought to ask that.
“The army.” Cory said.
“Humans?” I asked.
“Yes.” He said.
“Are you fucking kidding me? We’re meant to protect humans against vampires. And now you’re saying that we’re going to be killing them?” I asked.
“This is bullshit. The whole thing is. They are using you for their own agenda. Let’s get the hell out of here.” Ezra said standing up.
“I assure you. We aren’t lying about this. Once humans find out that you exist, they
are going to try and wipe you out.” Sergio said, almost panicked.
“Morgan, please. You have to believe me.” Cory said as I stood up.
“I have to get home. I can’t think about this right now.” I said.
“I’ll call you in a couple of days when this information has sunk in.” Cory said. And I nodded as we left the house.
We went outside and got in the car. Koda drove while Nathan was in the passenger seat and Ezra sat with me in the
backseat.
He could tell that I was rattled by what was just told to me and I didn’t know how to process this. I was apparently the leader of the rebellion.
How could someone like me be a leader when I’ve been put down my whole life. Treated like trash and hated because the Alpha told the pack to do it. None of this seemed real to me and Ezra could definitely see that.
He was doing everything he could to comfort me, but there was no point in talking about it.
I looked out the window staring at the woods as we drove home and I felt Ezra reach over and hold my hand with his.
