“You think it’s rediculous?” Logan asked.
“I think you’re gonna get everyone in this pack killed. If they see a ghost town then they are going to know that you’re hiding something. If they see people wandering around, living their lives then they won’t suspect anything. Just make sure that no one shifts in the middle of town. They can wait until they’re in the woods and under the cover of the trees.” I said.
“I didn’t ask for your opinion.” He said.
“Logan. You can do whatever the hell you want with this pack. In case you’ve forgotten, there is only one person here that means anything to me. The rest of you can get fucked.” I said.
Logan slowly walked over to me until he was right in my face and Ezra growled at him. But I grabbed him by the arm to calm him down. I knew that Logan wouldn’t hurt me. Especially not with Ezra here.
Logan reached his hand out and he slowly moved my hair away from my neck, on both sides. And that’s when he saw the mark on my neck. The same as the one on Ezra’s neck.
“So, you two are mates.” Logan said.
“We’re second chance mates. That’s why we were attracted to each other from the first time we met. While she was still mated to you. And I believe you hit her for talking to me that night at the Ball.” Ezra said, getting in Logan’s face.
“She was my mate and you were making a move on her.” Logan defended.
“We were talking.” Ezra said. 1
“Ezra. I think you need to call Koda and tell him about the army. The threat is real and they need to be careful about shifting. The whole pack has to be put on alert.” I said.
“Yeah. Will you be alright for a few minutes?” He asked.
“I’ll be fine.” I said. So he kissed me and then left the room to make the call to his pack.
I sat on the couch and I stared out the window at the woods that weren’t too far from the packhouse. I was itching to go for a run. But I knew that I couldn’t do that just yet.
I had to be here for my mother and I wasn’t sure how long she was going to be asleep for.
The sun had set a while ago and there were still workers wandering around the packhouse doing their thing.
I thought he would have let them go home by now, but it looked like this was a normal occurrence. They weren’t even expecting to go home just yet.
An arrogant asshole, just like his dad.
He stood there glaring at me the whole time we were in the living room, but I just ignored him.
I knew that his life was pretty shit. His wife was screwing everything else with a pulse and he was left here alone.
I guess I did feel sorry for him in a way. He was my mate and there were times when he was starting to show me some kindness, but then he would turn around and do something that was completely unforgivable. So I wasn’t going to dwell on it. And I wasn’t going to regret any of my actions. If I did then I wouldn’t have my beautiful little girl that I have. And I wouldn’t change that for the world.

The life that I have created for myself, I have no doubt, is so much better than anything I would have had here. No matter how much he claims that he cares about
me.
I honestly believe that he doesn’t really know how to love anyone.
