Chapter 97
As soon as I got to the packhouse I shifted as I went inside and I grabbed some spare clothes that were inside the laundry room.
I stormed into the house and Ezra and Logan were going at it like they were going to kill each other. But I walked past Ezra and I grabbed Logan by the front of his shirt and I slammed him against the wall so hard that it left a dent in the wall.
“Wow.” Ezra said.
“What the fuck have you done to those people down there?” I growled in his face. “Nothing they didn’t deserve.” He said.
“They’re innocent. They are all fucking innocent. You know that.” I yelled.
“I don’t care. I am the Alpha of this pack and they are nothing to me.” He said. So I kneed him in the stomach and when he bent over I kneed him in the face.
Before he was able to fall to the ground, I grabbed his hair and forced his head up so I could elbow him in the face and I pulled my arm straight back and punched him in the face.
Suddenly Ezra grabbed me around the waist and pulled me away from Logan.
“We aren’t here to kill him.” Ezra said.
“Well, we’re not here to let him live either.” I said, fighting to get free of Ezra.
“Hey. You need to calm down. Why don’t you go and check on your mother?” Ezra asked.
“Why don’t you treat me like a fucking adult instead of a child. If that asshole needs to get his ass kicked then I will do it.” I yelled.
“Please? Just leave us for a while.” He said.
I looked over at Logan who was bleeding all over the floor and I went to the kitchen to get a coffee.
I went and sat outside and I lit a cigarette and started walking around while I was smoking it.
I was too angry and anxious to sit down right now.
Cory finally came downstairs and told me that my mother was still asleep.
“You better get going. It’s going to be daylight soon.” I said.
“I know. That’s why I’m here. You saw Bonnie?” He asked.
“Yeah. What the fuck was the whole town doing out so late at night?” I asked.
“Logan rounds them up. He gets them out of bed. Out of their houses. And they want to stick up for each other. They want to defend each other. That’s why they all show up. They are actually really good people.” Cory said.
“And why the fuck did you tell them about me? Why did you tell them that I was coming to save them? I just want to stay with my mother, make her as comfortable as possible and then get the fuck out of here. I don’t want to be anywhere near that prick.” I yelled.
“I know. And I saw what just happened. You saw what he was doing to those
humans and you almost killed him

already.” Cory said.
“Is that you trying to make your point?” I asked.
“Yeah. I guess it is.” He said.
“Get the hell out of my face before I do the same to you.” I said.
“We’ll talk later.” He said, and he left the pack grounds.
When I walked back into the room I saw Ezra and Logan were still in the living room, but I didn’t care. I walked past them and I went upstairs to my mothers bedroom.
I sat next to her bed but I faced it towards the window and I watched the sun rise.
It wasn’t long before I heard her murmuring something so I turned the chair around and mom was awake.
“How are you feeling?” I asked.
“I don’t know.” She said.
I grabbed her drink for her and placed the straw in her mouth so she could have a drink.
“I thought I heard some yelling last night.” She said.
“Yeah. You don’t need to worry about that. It’s nothing. Just a misunderstanding.” I said.
“You wouldn’t lie to me, would you?” She asked.
“No. But I think there’s just some things that you don’t need to worry about.” I said.
“Okay. Well, next time you attack Logan like that. Make sure you finish it. Make him pay for what he did to you.” She said.
“Mom. Don’t worry about it.” I said.
“I like Ezra. He seems like a really great guy.” She said.
“You already told me that.” I said.
“I want you to believe it.” She said.
“I do believe it.” I said.
We talked for a little while when a nurse came into the room with my mother’s breakfast on a tray.
I left the room while the nurse helped feed my mother and bathe her and everything.
I walked into the hallway and I pulled my phone out and I dialed a number.
“Hello.” Paisley answered.
“Hi Paisley. How are they?” I asked.
“They’re doing alright. I think they miss you.” She said.
“I miss them too. Can you do me a favor? I want you to bring the kids to the pack.” I
said.
“Are you sure?” She asked.

“I don’t care about Logan. I need my mother to meet them. It’s not fair keeping them from her.” I said.
“Alright. If you say so. I’ll rent a car and drive out today.” She said.
“Thank you. I’ll see you when you get here.” I said.
Ezra walked up the hallway to where I was leaning against the wall and he stopped right in front of me.
“You look exhausted.” He said.
“Well, the days not over yet. I just called Paisley. She’s bringing the kids here.” I said.
“Are you sure? You said that you weren’t going to let Logan anywhere near them.”
“They have us three protecting them. But mom deserves to see them. I know that she doesn’t have long left.” I said, looking away from him as a tear fell down my face. But Ezra cupped my face and made me look back at him.
“You don’t have to hide your tears from me.” Ezra said.
“I know.” I said. And he leaned forward and kissed me.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” A high pitched screech yelled from down the
hall.
I turned to see Penelope wearing a trashy looking dress and holding her shoes in
her hand.
“Oh great. Here’s the other one.” I said, rolling my eyes.
