…Few Weeks On p>

THE morning sun spilled generously through the large glass windows of the living room, bathing everything in a golden glow. Amelia sat back on the wide cream couch, her frame soft against the cushions, a sight of pure motherhood and poise. Her hair, swept into a simple bun, framed her face which now carried that faint weariness only mothers understood, but still, she looked graceful, dignified, almost serene.

Two bassinets rested a few feet away, draped in soft blue blankets. Inside them, her newborn twins lay sleeping, two tiny bundles of joy whose synchronized breaths made the house feel warmer than usual. One stirred, kicking softly against his blanket, before settling again. The other stretched his little fingers as if reaching out for the world he had only just arrived into.

Beside Amelia sat Hazel. She leaned forward on the couch, chin resting on her palms, staring at her baby brothers with an air of fascination. Her brown eyes sparkled with curiosity and pride.

“They are so small, mommy,” Hazel whispered, careful not to wake them. “Do you think they will know I’m their big sister p>

Amelia smiled, her hand brushing gently through Hazel’s hair.

“Of course, darling. They will know. You are already their protector, and one day they will look up to you just like you look up to me p>

Hazel’s lips curved into a shy grin.

“I’m going to be the best sister ever. I will help you take care of them, I promise p>

From across the room, the nanny- a gentle woman in her late thirties named Beth, approached with a folded set of baby clothes.

“One of them will be awake any minute now. Twins don’t sleep in sync all the time, you know,” she said warmly, her voice seasoned with experience. She placed the clothes on the side table and adjusted the curtains slightly, letting in just enough light but shielding the babies from harsh rays.

Amelia nodded in gratitude.

“Thank you, Beth. I don’t know how I would be handling all this without you p>

Beth gave her a knowing smile.

“That is why I’m here, madam. To make sure you are not worn out p>

At that moment, footsteps echoed down the hallway and Ryan emerged, sharp as always. He was dressed in dark trousers and a fitted shirt, sleeves, not rolled up this time. His tablet was tucked under one arm, and a cup of coffee in the other. His presence seemed to fill the room, his energy brisk and composed, in contrast to the soft domestic calm of Amelia and her children.

“Good morning,” Ryan greeted, his eyes briefly landing on the twins before moving to Amelia. He set the tablet on the center table, immediately switching into his assistant mode. “I have sorted through last night’s mails. The sales reports from Satin and Sage have been forwarded to your inbox, and the updated budget for the resort expansion is on this tablet. Also,” he paused, his gaze flickering toward Hazel with a small smile, “there is a message from the floral suppliers, but I will handle that later. You don’t need to worry p>

Amelia chuckled softly, shifting Hazel into her lap.

“Ryan, you are always working. Even in a house full of babies p>

Ryan smirked faintly, tugging at his cuff.

“Someone has to keep things from piling up. You deserve time with your family, not drowning in paperwork. Where is Mom?” he asked, looking toward the rooms.

“She is quite busy in the kitchen,” she replied, glancing toward the kitchen.

Hazel, who had been watching the exchange, tilted her head.

“Uncle Ryan, do you ever sleep?” she asked innocently.

The nanny laughed, and even Amelia couldn’t help it. Ryan raised his brows in mock offense.

“Of course I do. Just not as much as your mommy insists I should.” He leaned slightly toward Hazel. “But don’t worry. I still have enough energy to keep everything in order p>

Just as Amelia was about to respond, a faint cry rose from one of the bassinets. Hazel immediately jumped up, rushing to peek inside.

“It is the one with the star blanket!” she announced, her voice eager. “He is awake, mommy p>

Amelia tried to stand, but Ryan was already a step ahead.

“I will get him,” he said, moving smoothly to the bassinet. With surprising’gentleness for his sharp demeanor, he lifted the baby into his arms, rocking him carefully until the cries softened into small hiccups. He handed the baby to Amelia, who cradled him with that effortless grace only a mother had.

Hazel’s eyes widened, watching her brother’s tiny fists curl.

“Can I hold him too, mommy p>

“Not just yet, sweetheart,” Amelia said, kissing the baby’s forehead. “When they are a bit stronger, you will be the first to hold them properly p>

Hazel sighed, half disappointed, half patient, before climbing back onto the couch beside her mother.

“Okay. But I will keep practicing how to hold my dolls so I will be ready p>

Ryan watched quietly, his arms folding across his chest. The scene before him- the mother with her children, the nanny hovering protectively, the innocence of Hazel’s chatter- was not just domestic but grounding. It was the kind of peace he hadn’t known in years of working across boardrooms and business trips. He caught himself staring a second too long before clearing his throat.

“I will be in the study if you need me,” he said, his voice lower, almost respectful.

Amelia looked up briefly, gratitude in her eyes.

“Thank you, Ryan. I will join you after feeding him p>

He nodded once and disappeared into the hallway, leaving Amelia to her moment.

The baby had already quieted, his tiny lips searching instinctively. Amelia’s heart swelled, overwhelmed by the simplicity and the depth of what she held in her arms. Hazel leaned closer, whispering,

“They are lucky, mommy. They have you p>

Amelia kissed Hazel’s cheek, her voice soft but steady.

“No, Hazel. I’m the lucky one. I have you- and now, them p>

Beth adjusted the blanket over the other twin, who was still asleep, and Amelia leaned back into the cushions, her daughter at her side, her newborn in her arms. For a fleeting moment, all the noise of the world, all the wounds of the past, seemed to melt away, leaving nothing but the delicate symphony of new life and the promise of

tomorrow.
