The living room, for example, was so small that Ariana could walk through it in just a few steps.

When Ariana went downstairs, she put on a scarf and hummed a song.
Guessing it might take a while for Theodore to arrive, Ariana planned to go to the nearby convenience store to pass time.
As soon as she stepped out of the lobby, she saw a familiar black car pull up under a tree.
It was as if the car had been parked there for a long time.

She greeted Horace and asked, “How did you arrive so soon?”

Anderson happened to be dealing with something nearby, so we were just around the corner from here.
