Five Years Later
It still feels unreal.
I close my eyes for a moment, letting the breeze tousle my hair as I breathe in the salty scent of the
sea.
We’re on a small island in the Maldives, where Dante brought me to celebrate our fifth wedding
anniversary.
Yes five years since we left the hell that was Inferno Bay.
Five years since we started over from scratch.
So much has happened since then… and at the same time, it feels like it all passed in the blink of an
eye.
After we left the prison, we made our marriage official at the nearest registry office, just as he
promised.
It was simple but meaningful.
Right after that, he took me to see the world.
We traveled to every place he had once dreamed of showing me.
Paris, Japan, Egypt, Iceland… and of course, Saturn. 1
Not literally, of course, but we went to an observatory on a remote mountain, and he planned an
entire night just for us to stargaze.

My husband has changed so much.
He chose to step back from his business, delegated most of it to trusted men, and decided to focus on living.

They’re together and happy.
They travel a lot, but we always keep in touch.
Sometimes we meet up in different countries just to miss each other a little less.
And my husband is still intense, possessive, and jealous.
But now, he’s also sweet, patient, and even more protective.

I’ve grown.
I’m twenty–five now.

We sit on the sand, hands intertwined, watching the sun dip below the horizon.
I feel his gaze on me, curious, until he asks again.
“What were you thinking about, bunny p>
I turn to him with a tender smile.
“ I was remembering everything we’ve been through these five years. How happy I am to be by your
side p>
His fingers squeeze mine softly.
“Five years with you… and it still feels like I saw you for the first time just yesterday. ”
A lot has changed, Dante. But one thing hasn’t” the way I want you. And love you p>
He chuckles, kissing my forehead.
“You have no idea how much my desire for you has grown p>
He pulls me into a slow, lingering kiss.
Just as our lips part and I give him one last quick peck, Billy jumps on him, making him laugh out
loud.
“Billy!” I scold, laughing along.
The little troublemaker grabbed one of Dante’s sandals and took off running.
“Bad dog! Come back here, Billy!” I shout, jumping up to chase him, while my love laughs uncontrollably.
“Don’t laugh at me, babe! Help me catch him!” I protest, trying not to trip on the sand.
Still laughing, Dante stands and brushes the sand from his pants.
