Chapter 140

Noah Whitmore

I walked down the sidewalks of my street with light steps, feeling, the wind hit my face and mess up

my hair.

For the first time in weeks, I managed to leave college early.

The exhaustion weighed on my shoulders, but just getting home before sunset felt like a small

victory.

College had been draining me like a sponze.

All I wanted was a hot shower, a quiet bed, and sleep until morning

I just needed one favor from the universe: for my family not to be in one of their episodes.

Whenever something went wrong for them, I was the one they took it out on

I’d always been the emotional punching bag of that house.

And all because of one thing.

Because I’m gay.

As if that erased any value I might have had.

I never hid who I was.

Never saw a reason to.

But to them, my existence was an insult. Because they were rich, they thought they were superior, untouchable, the bearers of some twisted morality they only used to wound.

I’m exhausted.

Tired of staying quiet, of lowering my head, of enduring the looks filled with disgust.

I can’t wait to finish college, get a good job, and disappear from that house.

To marry someone who accepts me for who I am and live a life free from hypocrisy.

I let out a long sigh as I reached the gate.

I pushed it open with some urgency, feeling relief wash over me. The idea of going in, heading

straight to my room, taking a shower, and collapsing was the only thing holding my mood together.

But what I found froze me in place at the door.

Oravio.

The so–called ‘Tamily friend‘ my mother idolized so much.

An influential man in the market, the son of a well–known congressman in the city. He was sitting on the living room couch with a glass of whiskey in hand and a strange smile on his lips.

“Hello, Noah,” he said, his voice dripping with sweetness.

1 frowned, tension climbing up my spine.

“Hello, Mr. Otávio p>

He chuckled softly.

“You don’t have to call me ‘Mister.‘ Just Otávio is fine p>

I held back the urge to roll my eyes.

Damn it. Why did I have to run into this creep?

“Where’s my family?” I asked, letting the disdain slip into my voice.

He stood up slowly and walked toward me.

“They’ll be back soon. Don’t worry p>

I noticed his gaze.

The way it slid down my body.

Disgusting.

It was impossible not to notice.

“I’m going upstairs to my room. Excuse me p>

I tried to walk past him, but his hand shot out in front of me, blocking my way.

“What’s the rush?” he asked, the smile never leaving his face.

I sighed, holding onto my fast thread of patience.

“Look, sir”

I didn’t get to finish.

He lunged forward and pressed his lips against mine,

I tried to push him away, but his hands gripped my shoulders tightly, I lost my balance and fell backwards, knocking over vases that shattered on the floor,

“Get off me!” I screamed, struggling beneath his weight.

He just laughed, sadistically.

“I know you want this. You’re gay. All of you love being fucked p>

I was suffocating with revulsion.

Rage surged through me.

My fist clenched on instinct and slammed into his face with all the strength I had.

I saw the fury in his eyes as he tried to tear my shirt, pinning me down.

Panic flared inside me like an uncontrollable fire.

I looked around for anything that could help.

That’s when I saw it—a nearby vase still intact.

He bit my neck, making me recoil in disgust, and the rage turned into instinct. I grabbed the vase and smashed it against his head with all my strength.

The sound of the impact echoed through the room.

The vase shattered, and Otávio collapsed on top of me, motionless.

I shoved his body off, panting, heart pounding.

A thin stream of blood ran down his temple.

I crawled toward him, hands trembling.

I felt for a pulse.

Nothing.

Chapter 140

I placed my ear to his chest.

Silence.

No heartbeat.

No sign of life.

“Oh my God…” The words came out weak.

Panic consumed me completely.

Did I kill him?

Then I heard the scream.

I turned my head toward the door–and saw my family.

My parents.

My sisters.

All frozen, eyes wide in shock.

“What did you do?!” my father roared, running toward me.

He shoved me violently, pushing me out of the way, and knelt beside the fallen man.

He tried to revive him, pressing down on his chest.
