Carola spilled everything, not holding anything back. Alonzo’s face grew dark as he listened.
“Carola, don’t worry, nothing bad will happen. Let me take care of it p>
Carola studied the confidence in his eyes. “Are you sure you can handle it p>
“Trust me. I’ll find someone to help. All you need to do is get ready to be the most beautiful bride in two days p>
Carola finally let out a breath. “I don’t know what I’d do without you, Alonzo p>
For now, she could relax.
Dorothea really had no idea what Carola had promised Edmond. Latham tried everything, being both gentle and tough, but Edmond wouldn’t say a word.
“Forget it. We’ll just take him to court and let the legal process handle it p>
Dorothea couldn’t help but be surprised. Carola always seemed to find people willing to go above and beyond for her.
On the morning of the wedding, Albert left his house right on time.
Jarrett glanced around, searching for Carmen. “Albert, I thought Carmen was going to go with you to pick up the bride. Where is she? Why would she go out and play today of all days p>
Albert’s eyes were cold. “Dad, don’t worry about it. I have my groomsmen. If she doesn’t want to come, let her have her fun p>
Honestly, Albert was relieved Carmen wasn’t there to mess things up.
Right before leaving, Albert glanced at his phone. It was blowing up with notifications, but not a single one was from Dorothea.
So she really was going to just watch him get married.
“Let’s go, Albert. Time to pick up Carola p>
The lucky hour was almost here. Albert climbed into the lead wedding car. “Let’s go p>
If they missed the lucky moment, it would be considered bad luck.
Normally, it only took thirty minutes to get from Albert’s house to The Brown Estate, and wedding convoys usually took a longer route to arrive at the perfect time.
But the moment they set off, the traffic was a nightmare.
Albert couldn’t tell if he was imagining it, but every red light felt like it lasted forever.
It was almost nine o’clock, and they were only halfway there. A restless irritation started to build inside him.

The driver checked his phone. “There is, Albert, but that road has a lot of trucks p>
“Take it. Just drive carefully p>
No way was he getting into an accident on his wedding day.

The whole convoy followed, changing routes behind the lead car. The main car was going too fast,
and couple of clueless drivers tut in breaking up the heat line of
wedding cars. It looked like a mess.
The videographer next to them shook his head and called Albert.
“Albert, you guys need to slow down. The cars behind can’t keep up and the video won’t look good p>
Albert felt his eyelid twitch. “Got it p>
He hung up and told the driver, “Slow down. The others are falling behind p>
The driver eased off the gas, but right then, an electric scooter shot

The driver panicked and swerved sharply. He managed to avoid the scooter, but the car crashed into a flower bed.
Albert lurched forward from the impact, his forehead smacking the back window with a dull thud.
The driver turned off the engine, his face pale as he looked back. “Albert, are you okay p>
A bump was already swelling on Albert’s forehead. He gritted his teeth and shook his head. “I’m fine p>
The driver jumped out to check on the scooter rider.
Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Slowly, the rest of the wedding cars caught up and parked.
Albert climbed out. The main wedding car was totaled. They’d have to switch vehicles.
Someone stared at the bump on Albert’s head. “Albert, maybe you should see a doctor for that p>
It looked pretty bad.
Albert glanced at his watch. “No time. Move the flowers to the next car. I’ll ride in that one p>
Even the last car in the line had gotten scratched up.
There was no time to get new cars.
