The city was soaked in darkness. Neon lights painted the sky a soft, dreamy rose- gray.
Suddenly, a firework exploded outside, lighting up the night in a burst of color.
Dorothea’s eyes sparkled with delight. “Latham, look! Fireworks p>
He smiled. “Do you like them? I arranged this just for you. To celebrate our first official day together p>
She turned to him, surprised. She hadn’t expected him to think of everything.
A small smile played on her lips. “It’s beautiful p>
He leaned closer. “You confessed first today, but Dorothea, I’ll always love you a little more p>
She only needed to take the lead this once. From now on, every step would be his to take.
Outside the window, fireworks burst in quick flashes, then slowed to a gentle rhythm.
Dorothea’s ears burned. Her fingertips pressed into his back, leaving tiny crescent marks on his skin.
A soft moan escaped her, barely audible over the noise outside. Her brows drew together as she tried to hold back.
With her eyes closed, her long lashes cast delicate shadows on her cheeks. Her lips were flushed and inviting.
When the tension finally left her body, she felt like she might melt right into the sheets. Every nerve tingled, waves of sensation crashing over her again and again.
In the blur of it all, she thought she heard his voice, clear and certain. “I love you p>
Dorothea was so tired she could barely keep her eyes open. She melted into the bed, every muscle relaxed.

Albert was having dinner at the hotel when his assistant spoke up out of nowhere

Albert frowned. “Which floor is he on p>
“Pretty sure it’s the top floor. One above yours p>
He felt a wave of irritation. “I’m going up p>
There were so many things he wanted to ask Latham. He needed to know just how
long Latham had been interested in Dorothea.
His room key worked for every floor, so getting to the top was easy.
Right as he reached Latham’s door, the manager stopped him.
“Albert, your room’s downstairs. Did you press the wrong button p>
He gave a tight smile. “No mistake. I’m here to see someone p>
But Latham had reserved the entire floor.
The manager smiled politely. “Sorry, Albert.

Latham had brought a woman back to his room. No way would the manager let Albert through.
