He really liked Mamie. Maybe it was because she reminded him of his own mom, or maybe he just liked her for no reason at all. Either way, the feeling was impossible to explain.

At this point, all he could do was make sure Garth got plenty of time around her.
For three days, Dorothea barely left the villa.
It felt like her body didn’t even belong to her anymore. She was practically living like an overgrown baby.
Latham would carry her to meals, carry her out to the garden to soak up some sun… and somehow, every time, they’d end up back in bed.
When it was finally time to visit her family, Dorothea glanced at the clock and nearly lost it. It was almost noon.

It wasn’t just Grandma she was worried about.
She hadn’t even said hello to Ladd after the wedding.
Thinking about it made Dorothea mentally curse Latham all over again.

Dorothea’s cheeks turned pink. “Grandma, we’re actually planning to stay here p>
The wedding home was supposed to be here anyway, and Dorothea didn’t want to be separated from her grandma.
Pauline thought it over and decided the newlyweds deserved their own space.
“How about we go back to Ladd’s house for a while? He’s all by himself, and I heard from him that the villa next door is empty. You two could move in there. It’s just a ten-minute walk. That way you could still come back for dinner, every day. Wouldn’t that be nice p>
Latham did the math in his head and agreed it sounded like a good plan.

Dorothea was worried her grandma wouldn’t be comfortable living in someone else’s house and wanted to protest.
