“Oliver, I never realized Evelyn hated me this much p>

Natalie started thrashing around dramatically.
Oliver panicked and pulled her into his arms. “Stop it, Natalie. This isn’t your fault. Evelyn’s just jealous p>
He spent forever calming her down before she finally stopped with the theatrics.
But Oliver wasn’t done. He glared at me. “Looks like I didn’t punish you enough tonight p>
Without another word, he pulled out his phone and made a call.
In less than a minute, he’d bankrupted my family’s company.
My parents kept their faces blank. I shot them another look.
Instantly, they put on a show-like their whole world had just collapsed.
“Oliver, you’re going to destroy us!” my dad cried.
“How could you do this?” my mom added.
They even managed to squeeze out a few tears.
I had to hand it to them-they were better actors than I was.
Oliver looked satisfied. “Blame your precious daughter p>
“Evelyn, have you learned your lesson yet p>
“What did I do wrong? Some homewrecking bitch keeps provoking me, and I can’t even clap back? If you’ve got the balls, divorce me. Otherwise, she’ll always be the mistress. Se’ll never shake that label p>
I was deliberately pushing his buttons.
And Natalie played right along. “Just let me die p>
Now Oliver didn’t know what to do first-yell at me or comfort Natalie.
But as always, Natalie won.
Chapter 3
After another round of soothing her, Natalie looked up at him with red-rimmed eyes. “Oliver, I just need to know one thing. Is the real reason you won’t divorce Evelyn because you want to torture her p>
“If you still have feelings for her, I can walk away p>
Now Oliver couldn’t dodge the question.
I knew the truth, though. Oliver just couldn’t let go.
We’d been together since high school. We’d been through so much. Of course he wasn’t ready to walk away.
The whole “punishing me for killing his mother” thing? Just an excuse.
After all these years, he must’ve figured out the truth by now!
But there were things he still didn’t know.
Things that would destroy him when they came to light.
The thought made me smile.
“Can’t you see it, Natalie? Oliver can’t let me go. Why else would he keep finding excuses not to divorce me p>
“If I were you, I’d have some self-respect and leave p>
My words earned me a slap across the face.
My parents almost lost it.
I mouthed one word to them: Wait.
They held back.
And Oliver finally made his decision. “Fine. Let’s get divorce p>
God, I almost laughed out loud.
But I held it together and put on a hysterical act instead. “So now you’re divorcing me for this whore p>
“Shut up. You’re the whore,” Oliver snapped, defending Natalie.
I stormed out with my parents, looking heartbroken.
The next day, Oliver’s lawyer handed me the divorce papers There wasn’t a single asset allocated to me.
I immediately filed for divorce in court.
