“Phoenix, let’s talk,” his voice sounded completely exhausted. “I’ve figured everything out p>
“Figured out what? That you want to choose your little childhood sweetheart after all?” I asked coldly.
“No, I… I’ve decided to cut off all contact with Raven.” His voice was barely audible, “Phoenix, can we start over? This time I promise I’ll never have anything to do with her again p>
“Promise?” I scoffed, “Kai Hawthorne, how long can your ‘promise’ actually last p>
“I’m serious! I’ve thought it through-to me, she really is just a friend p>
He tried desperately to explain.
I was silent for a few seconds, then said flatly: “Too late p>
“Phoenix, I admit I handled things badly before and caused misunderstandings, but what we have between us p>

Kai was still trying to make excuses.
