The other victims’ parents approach me, tears streaming down their faces.
“You saved us. Without you, we’d have no justice p>

I pat that mother’s shoulder and turn to everyone:
“I’m just like you. And don’t worry-I’ve already covered all your children’s medical bills. Present and future. As long as the kids recover and stay healthy, that’s all that matters p>
My assistant asks what to do with the twenty million.
Obviously I’m not leaving it for Gemma. Her son’s life isn’t worth that much.
I pull out a stack of bills-about ten grand-and walk over to Blaze.
He is still crumpled on the floor. Gemma’s sobbing next to him.
I look down at them both and rip the paper band off the stack.
As the bills flutter down onto Blaze’s body, I say coldly:
“I’m reasonable. I’m not buying your life after all. It’s too cheap. I’ll let the law handle you instead. Consider this your medical bills p>
The cash rains down on him like confetti.
Gemma glares up at me, pure murder in her eyes.
But she can’t do anything about it.
The security team files out with the cases, smooth and efficient.
Half a month later, the court sentences Blaze to ten years in prison.
The internet explodes again:

I stare at the comments, my eyes burning with tears.
Justice never fails to show up. Right?
Three days later, a beautiful sunny day.

Her voice is weak: “Mom… did I sleep for a long time p>
Tears stream down my face. I nod. “Yeah, my sweetie. But the doctor says you’re okay now. It’s all over p>
I hold her hand. She squeezes back, barely, but it’s enough.
In that moment, I feel like I’m alive again.
The other victims recover too.
Good news keeps coming.
The other mother’s daughter woke up too. Started her recovery.
She finally got what I did-hearing her baby call her “Mom” again.
Meanwhile, Hayes tries to see me.
When we meet again, he looks like a ghost-hollow, broken, a dark cloud hanging over him.
“Luna, I’ve been torturing myself every day. What did I do to our daughter? She nearly died and I wasn’t even there. I’m not even human p>

I signal the guards. They throw him out.
If he shows up again, they’ll beat him on sight.
Three months later, I hear about Hayes again.
He’s dead.

I transfer her to a new school. We move abroad together.
