Lucien turned to look. It was the Durants.
Behind them followed a short, fat man covered in pockmarks, filthy and disheveled.
The moment Chloe saw the man, her face went deathly pale. She turned to run.
Mrs. Durant moved quickly, hurling a cup that struck Chloe’s knee.
While Chloe was kneeling, the man rushed forward, grabbed her hair, and slapped her.
“You fucking whore! I sent you out to buy me booze, and you ran off to seduce some rich bastard p>
“Two sons at home waiting for you to earn money, and here you are living the good life! I’ll beat you to death p>
Lucien looked at Eden Durant in confusion.
“Mr. Durant, what is this about p>
Mrs. Durant rolled her eyes at him with contempt.
“Mr. Ellison, and you thought you’d found a treasure. Your precious ‘first love’ is a MARRIED WOMAN! With two sons nearly eight years old p>
“She couldn’t stand having a gambling addict for a husband. Got tired of being poor. That’s why she latched onto you p>
Chloe threw herself at Lucien’s feet, clutching his legs.
“Lucien, don’t believe them! I don’t even know this man p>
“Bullshit! Wasn’t it YOU who drugged me and crawled into my bed years ago to marry me? Now that my family’s broke, you pretend you don’t know me p>
“That bite mark scar on your left breast-I’M the one who bit you! You seemed to enjoy it plenty back then p>
Lucien’s face turned black with rage.
Of course he knew Chloe’s body intimately.
Their first night together, Chloe had him drink heavily.
When he woke, she said he’d bitten her in his passion.
Seeing blood on the sheets, he’d believed she was truly a virgin.
Though he’d had doubts, he hadn’t thought much of it.
It was all a lie!
Mrs. Durant had long been disgusted with him. She couldn’t help but mock.
“And you call yourself a businessman. You’re just an idiot. If not for you, Giselle would never have nearly died p>
“I saw her when they brought her to the hospital. She truly wanted to die. If her aim hadn’t been off, that knife would’ve pierced her heart p>

“Her courage impressed even us. And you dared question her purity, let a mistress humiliate her publicly. Do you have NO conscience p>
“Without Giselle, you’d still be a bodyguard for her family. You climbed up by stepping on her, got rich, then turned your back on her. Ungrateful bastard. She’s right to leave you p>
Lucien’s eyes widened in shock.
“When did I ever say Giselle wasn’t pure p>
Only then did he learn about the afternoon tea incident.
He also discovered the nightmares, fever, and that spiritual advisor were all Chloe’s scheme-actors she’d hired.
Her goal was to eliminate the heir and pave the way for herself and her child.
Lucien trembled with rage-furious at Chloe for playing him, but more furious at himself.
For this trash, he’d hurt his wife. The woman he loved most in this life.
Lucien had never hit a woman before. Chloe was the first.
He kicked her stomach, causing her to miscarry on the spot.
Looking at Chloe lying in a pool of blood, Lucien’s eyes resembled a demon from hell.
“You wanted to escape that man and live in luxury p>
“I’ll make sure you NEVER get your wish p>
