I watched my children waving as the car pulled away, my chest tightening at how Evelyn kept her back to me, refusing to even look my way.

I had tasked Zeon with finding information about Evelyn’s supposed current mate when we left Viremont, but someone had been deliberately obstructing our efforts. We couldn’t find any concrete information.
Visiting the neighbors near Evelyn’s Viremont mansion had revealed nothing about “Alexis’s father p>
I had wrongly suspected Julian was Evelyn’s mate. I’d even thought they had some open relationship despite his mateship. But the investigation proved me completely wrong. His wife Irina had been terminally ill, and Julian had been so devastated he’d talked about dying with her. The miracle was she recovered,likely through Evelink Biosciences. Evelyn must have helped, since she mentioned having good connections at the lab.
The person called “Jackson” was harder to investigate. All I could find suggested he was just Evelyn’s friend or colleague, but details were scarce. I’d looked into every man in Evelyn’s circle, but still couldn’t find any trace of this “current mate p>
The trail had gone cold, leaving Zeon frustrated for weeks. Today’s breakthrough was unexpected.
“After Miss Evelyn left Ravenshade, she would fly by private jet to the lab every three months, taking Alexis to shop and dine with a man,” Zeon reported.
The photo he showed me was blurry, just a shot from a street camera. It only showed the man’s back, no face at all.
“Alpha,” Zeon hesitated before suggesting, “could it be that Miss Evelyn… never actually remarried p>

My eyes sharpened with intense focus. During sleepless nights, I’d reviewed every moment since meeting Evelyn again. Through her daughter’s injury and all her troubles, this supposed current husband had never shown up.
When I took Alexis to the company, I’d tried to get information from the child, but she clearly knew nothing about having a father. This morning, I’d tested Gary too. His reaction was telling—instead of mentioning her current mate, he’d just warned me to stay away from Evelyn.
“Don’t think about getting back with her,” he’d said.
Strange words if she truly had a mate. He should have said she belonged to someone else now.
The question burned in my mind—Had Evelyn truly remarried?

Evelyn’s POV
I pushed aside my anger at Calvin’s sudden departure and focused on making sure the children enjoyed their picnic in the park.
After a full day of play, the children fell asleep at the dinner table. With the help of my maid, I bathed all three and carried them to their rooms. Once they were soundly asleep, I finally took time for myself.
I filled the tub for a much-needed soak after our long day. I had barely settled in when frantic knocking erupted at my door. Frowning, I opened my eyes, wrapped myself in a robe, and went to answer.
“Miss Evelyn, Alpha Calvin has been Zeon began urgently.
He didn’t need to finish. I could already detect the potent aphrodisiac scent emanating from Calvin.
The scent was familiar,similar to a special formula Evelink Biosciences had developed for wealthy clients in Veridia who struggled with certain… performance issues.
I stepped aside, allowing Zeon to help Calvin inside. Standing with arms crossed over my chest, I observed the man now sweating profusely on my couch. His shirt clung to his body, soaked through, revealing the sculpted physique he maintained through rigorous training.
Even more noticeable was his obvious state of arousal.
“What happened?” I asked. I couldn’t hide my curiosity.
Did Clara seriously drug him, hoping one wild night would land her a baby and a Luna title?
Calvin was clearly using tremendous willpower to resist the effects of the drug, but his control crumbled visibly the moment he saw me.
Zeon looked just as worried, sweat beading on his forehead.
“Alpha’s schedule was leaked. Competitors with questionable backgrounds ambushed us on our way to the hospital this afternoon and somehow drugged him,” Zeon explained rapidly.
“We’ve already consulted the medical team traveling with us, but the aphrodisiac is too powerful. The traditional cooling medications they prescribed had no effect p>
“Evelink Biosciences has the best doctors. Please, Miss Evelyn, help us get someone to examine the Alpha p>
Zeon spoke quickly, clearly fearing delays could worsen Calvin’s condition.
I raised an eyebrow,taking my time to respond,my voice carrying a hint of amusement and mockery.
“Oh, no need for a doctor,your Alpha just needs a little… release.Drop him off at a strip club and let nature take its course,problem solved p>
