Chapter 107

Evelyn’s POV

“Evelyn, call off your security! Don’t let them come any closer!” Clara’s voice was edged with panic as she noticed my bodyguards slowly closing in.

I couldn’t decide if Clara was cunning or just stupid. Knowing my temperament, she still dared to come alone and taunt me in public.

Perhaps the fantasy of carrying Calvin’s child had clouded her judgment. It was making her desperate to flaunt her supposed fertility success in my face.

“Scared now?” I asked coldly. “You weren’t so timid a minute ago p>

Clara’s face paled. Her instincts were finally kicking in, warning her that I wasn’t going to let this slide.

“You’ll regret this,” she hissed, backing away. “Calvin won’t let you get away with threatening me p>

She hurried toward the elevators, clutching her stomach as if protecting a precious cargo.

I beckoned to one of my security men. I wasn’t foolish enough to physically confront Clara in a mall full of security cameras, but her vicious comments about Rowan and Rhys wouldn’t go unpunished.

Jackson followed me out of the mall.

When I got into the car, Jackson handed me a phone.

It showed a real-time video that my men had taken.

Clara had just reached the parking garage, thinking she’d escaped, when a large hand clamped over her mouth.

She struggled wildly. “Mmph! What are you doing? Let me go p>

A crisp slap rang out.

In a camera blind spot, the sound repeated over and over.

One hundred times.

One hundred slaps.

By the time it was over, Clara’s face was swollen beyond recognition. The implants she’d recently had inserted were shifting under the impact, her entire face a mess of bruises.

“What the hell are you doing?” Beta Zeon’s voice rang out as he arrived with Calvin’s security team.

The hooded, masked man administering the punishment looked Zeon straight in the eyes. He deliberately delivered the final two slaps with extra force, then disappeared with impressive speed.

Clara trembled on her knees, covering her ruined face as she wailed in agony.

“My face! My beautiful face p>

The video ended there.

Jackson, sitting in the front passenger seat, received a message on his phone and turned to me.

“Boss, Bloodbane Pack security just took Clara away p>

My usually warm eyes were now filled with cold detachment.

“Is it done?” I asked quietly.

Jackson nodded. “One hundred slaps. Not one more, not one less p>

That was the price for destroying a family and insulting my children.

When evening came, I went to pick up Rowan and Rhys from school, only to be told by their teacher that the boys had already been collected by their father.

“Alpha Calvin came himself, with his Beta,” the teacher explained nervously. “We couldn’t refuse him since he’s their father p>

Seeing my skepticism, she showed me the security footage. It was indeed Calvin with Zeon, picking up my sons an hour earlier than usual.

I returned to my car, my expression unreadable.

“Take me to the Bloodbane Pack house,” I ordered my driver.

My car passed through the gates of the Bloodbane Pack estate without any trouble. There were no security checks or questions. The path to the main house was clear, as if someone had been expecting me.

The old butler stood waiting at the entrance. His posture was stiff but respectful. He had been working for the Bloodbane Pack since before Calvin was born. When my driver stopped at the garden entrance, I opened the door myself.

“Where are Rowan and Rhys?” I asked immediately.

The butler’s eyes flickered with sympathy before returning to his professional expression. “Only Alpha Calvin knows where the young masters are p>

He paused before adding, “Alpha Calvin is waiting for you in his study p>

I noticed how empty the house felt. There were no maids cleaning the fancy shelves, no staff members doing their usual work. Calvin had sent everyone away so we could talk privately.

I hadn’t been in this mansion for two years, but my body still remembered every part of the place I had called home for five years. The familiar smell of sandalwood and leather hit me as I walked through the entrance hall. I ignored the elevator and took the grand staircase instead.

Anger was building in my chest, but years of proper upbringing helped me keep it controlled beneath a calm surface.

When I reached the door of Calvin’s study, I knocked. It wasn’t out of respect, just habit.

“Calvin, open the door!” I called out. I couldn’t keep the anger out of my voice.

The door opened right away. Calvin stood there in his perfectly fitted charcoal suit, looking as powerful and handsome as always. His eyes looked me over as he stepped aside to let me in.

I stayed in the doorway. I refused to enter his study. “Why did you take Rowan and Rhys without telling me p>

“My father called,” he answered quickly. “He wanted to see his grandsons, so I took them to the family estate for dinner p>

When he mentioned Alpha Gregory, I hesitated. The old Alpha had always been kind to me during my marriage to Calvin. He was one of the few members of the Bloodbane Pack who had treated me with real respect.

“If Alpha Gregory wanted to see them, I could have brought them myself,” I said with a colder voice. “But you picked them up an hour early and told everyone to keep it from me. Why p>

I wasn’t stupid. The timing was too perfect. I had just taught Clara a painful lesson, and suddenly Calvin was taking our sons away from me.

My fingers curled into fists as I asked, “What are you really trying to do here, Calvin p>

He stood in front of me, every inch the powerful Alpha. Sharp jawline, intense eyes, broad shoulders that filled out his expensive suit perfectly. There was no sign of the gentler man I had seen in that photo outside the obstetrics department.

“You had your men give Clara one hundred slaps today,” he said calmly.

I closed my eyes for a moment, and a bitter smile crossed my face. “And? Are you here to protect her p>

Calvin frowned. “I’m not here to protect her. I just wanted to see you p>

His words surprised me. I had been avoiding him for weeks. I blocked his calls, ignored his emails, and refused to let him into my home. This move was clearly his way of getting around my refusal to see him.

“See me for what?” I asked, genuinely confused. I couldn’t think of what we still needed to discuss besides our children.

Calvin’s hand reached out and grabbed my arm firmly. “Come inside. We need to talk p>

“That’s not necessary,” I said, trying to pull away, but his grip stayed strong.

“I’ll tell you why I’ve been helping Clara all this time,Just come inside p>
