James just couldn’t wrap his head around it. He’d always known Vivian had an agenda with him, but he never realized it was all because of a man.
And she loved that man so much; she went so far as to bear him two children.
He didn’t feel sorry for Vivian, and he could not understand how a woman could go so far for a man.
What made it truly tragic was that the man had only ever used her and even went on to marry her adopted sister.

The Lowell family was too insignificant for her to bother with.
