Zachary stayed quiet, only tightening his grip on her wrist until it hurt. Gwyneth frowned and pulled her hand away. “You drunk fool should just go home already p>
With that cold remark, Gwyneth looked around, trying to find the car.
Zachary wouldn’t let it go. He looked at Gwyneth, his voice low and tense. “It’s so late – are you waiting here for Harrison p>
Done with his nonsense, Gwyneth pressed her car key, and the white Rolls–Royce Cullinan on her right flashed its lights. It was the same as Harrison’s – except his was black, and this one was shiny white.
Gwyneth raised an eyebrow. ‘And he considered a Cullinan low–profile?‘ she thought, amused. Harrison definitely had his own idea of what low- profile meant. She walked straight toward the car, leaving Zachary frozen.
Quentin wouldn’t buy a Cullinan for Gwyneth who was out of favor. Even Victor wouldn’t use a Cullinan just for daily driving. Zachary wondered if this Cullinan was a gift from Harrison.
Zachary’s face darkened visibly. Next to him, Bella’s eyes went wide with shock. “Gwyneth just got in a Cullinan wearing loungewear p>
Still stunned, both of them stood frozen as Gwyneth quickly got into the car, pressed the accelerator, and sped straight away to get the porcelain. To her, the car was just a way to get around.
Only then did Bella snap out of her daze. Bella said to Zachary, “Gwyneth is actually using a Cullinan as her daily car. Harrison really likes her. Gwyneth is in a whole different world now p>
“Enough!” Zachary grabbed his pounding head–whether from the alcohol or Bella’s loud voice, he couldn’t tell. He pushed her hand away and staggered into the elevator like a broken man.
He thought, ‘Somehow, I feel Gwyneth is slipping further and further away from me. That sweet little girl, who used to cling to me, now seems to be disappearing forever p>
Waves of pain flooded his chest, like the sea filling his nose and mouth–he felt like he was suffocating.
Gwyneth saw only two maids who had just woken up when she arrived. “I’m just here for the porcelain,” she said.
The maids stayed at the bottom of the stairs and chose not to follow her up.
Gwyneth went into the room and looked through the porcelain pieces her mother left behind, finally finding the one Carol needed. She carefully wrapped it herself and messaged Carol: [ I’ll bring it soon. Send me your address. ]
Carol quickly sent her an address and a location–sharing link. [ It’s too dangerous for you to come alone this late. Keep sharing your location until you get here, okay? ]
[Okay.] Gwyneth texted, a small smile on her face. ‘It’s really nice to feel cared for, she thought, feeling warm inside.
Carrying the porcelain, Gwyneth left the room and turned off the light. A faint thud echoed down the second–floor hall–like a shoe hitting the floor. As quiet as it was, the sound gave her chills.
Cold sweat broke out on her forehead as she quickly turned the light back on. The bright light filled the room. No one was there. ‘ No, I definitely heard something, she thought, her heart pounding.
Gwyneth called the servants to turn on all the lights. Just as she was about to keep searching, she heard a slight rustling behind the cabinet.
“ Gwyneth, be careful!” The two maids stepped in front of her, protecting her.
Suddenly, a kitten poked its head out from behind the cabinet, blinking big, round eyes and softly meowing for attention.
