“What kind of situations do you think you wouldn’t be able to manage alone?” Zachary asked.
Serenity laughed. “There are countless things. I just can’t think of any right now. Mr. York, you can go ahead with your tasks p>
Zachary studied her in silence for a long moment before responding gently, “I’ll head back to the office then. What time will you be closing tonight? I’ll come by to wait for you so we can go home together. I’m concerned those troublesome people will try to block your car again p>
“They won’t. That kind of behavior is typical only of Noah, who is young and reckless. They’ve already faced consequences once, so they won’t dare try again. They may seem intimidating, but they are cowards at heart p>
“Focus on your work. There’s no need to worry about me. I’ll be closing up quite late tonight, and I might stop by my sister’s before heading home p>
To be honest, Serenity simply preferred not to go home with Zachary.

Zachary chose not to inform Serenity about Hank Brown’s affair. He planned to ask Josh to investigate it, but since Josh hadn’t gotten back to him yet, it was better to remain silent while the situation was still uncertain. If it turned out to be false, he would risk becoming the villain who ruined Hank Brown and Liberty’s marriage.
“It’s really difficult to find a job,” she said. Before her marriage, she had been classified as a white-collar worker. Although she had only been out of the industry for a little over three years, returning had already proven to be quite challenging.
Zachary offered her comfort. “Take your time. It’s not the best period for job hunting right now p>
“I’m considering lending my sister money to start her own business or open a shop if she can’t find a job. That way, she can take care of Sonny while also earning some income p>
“That’s a solid idea,” Zachary agreed. He thought it might indeed be a better option for Liberty to start her own business since Sonny was still very young and needed his mother’s attention and care.
“You should hurry back to work,” she urged.
“Alright,” he replied, leaving with a heavy heart, feeling as though he had been dismissed by his wife.
Once he departed, Serenity returned to her spot behind the counter, pulled out her craft materials, and began working on her projects. Meanwhile, after dinner, Liberty carried her son in one arm and pushed the stroller with the other as she stepped outside.
After reaching the ground floor, she placed her son in the stroller and headed toward the outskirts of the community to buy formula and diapers.
“Hey, Liberty! Where are you off to with Sonny?” acquaintances greeted her on her way out, stopping briefly to interact with the baby.
Liberty smiled and responded, “I’m going to buy formula and diapers.” Since the incident where she chased her husband down five streets while brandishing a knife, she had gained a certain notoriety in the community.
Typically, Liberty was always smiling and appeared to have a pleasant demeanor. Everyone remarked that it was hard to believe someone with such a cheerful disposition could be bold enough to chase her husband.
She wielded a knife on five streets in retaliation for her husband’s abuse, an act that few women would dare to attempt. For a time, she became the center of conversation after tea. Nevertheless, people remained polite when they encountered her. The community was more familiar with Liberty and her sister than with Hank Brown, who had only visited a few times. The issue was that whenever Hank returned, he was always in a hurry and lacked the time to engage in conversation with the locals.
Recently, Liberty had lost some weight due to the stress of searching for a job. Deep down, she felt that interviewers were repulsed by her obesity and appearance during her interviews. Determined, Liberty resolved to wake up early the next day to start running in the mornings. She aimed to find a job while also working on her weight loss. Even her sister had encouraged her to shed some pounds, not only for her looks but primarily for her health, as she was struggling with fatty liver disease due to her weight.
