Jasmine looked at Josh as she spoke.
Josh instantly felt an immense pressure.
He struggled with cooking and couldn’t possibly present a table full of dishes that would compare to what Zachary had prepared.
In his heart, he complained about his good friend. Zachary was so remarkable that he was set to outshine all the other single upper-class men. Finding a wife was no easy task.
“Ms. Sox will also be very happy in the future,” he mused.
Although Josh lacked culinary skills, he believed he would treat his wife well. If anything developed between him and Jasmine, he would certainly ensure her happiness.
Jasmine laughed. “Who can say for sure if they’ll be happy in the future? Love and marriage aren’t the same. Dating can be sweet, but once you marry, reality sets in. Every flaw a person hides during dating will inevitably come to light. A marriage lasts only if both partners can tolerate each other in the long run p>

Josh responded honestly, “I’ve tried, but it didn’t turn out well. I could probably make something edible at best. Jasmine, does your ideal husband need to excel at cooking and housework p>
He stopped referring to her as “Ms. Sox,” feeling that after knowing each other for so long, it came across as a bit distant.
In the past, men sought wives who were skilled in both housework and cooking. Was that now the standard for women when choosing their husbands?

“Our family chef is quite skilled,” Josh added.
Jasmine took a bite of food and replied, “I don’t expect my future partner to be proficient in both housework and cooking. I just believe these are basic skills that everyone should possess. After we get married, we can take turns cooking, which would make things easier for me p>

Jasmine hummed in acknowledgment.
Josh stepped out to buy flowers.
Fortunately, there was a florist nearby, owned by a local who wasn’t rushing to close for the holidays, allowing him to quickly purchase a bouquet of roses.
Returning with the bouquet, Josh walked straight to Jasmine and handed her the flowers, his dark eyes fixed on her. Earnestly, he said, “Jasmine, getting to know you has made me like you more each day. I feel as though I’ve been single all this time because I was waiting for you to enter my life. Will you be my girlfriend p>
Jasmine accepted the flowers, placed them on the table, and replied, “First, let’s eat p>

Josh was left speechless.
Jasmine laughed at his stunned expression. “Mr. Bucham, I don’t dislike you, but if you’re asking me to accept you as my boyfriend right now, I’m not comfortable with that. I think we don’t know each other well enough yet. I hope you can give me some more time to get to know you better before we define our relationship p>
Out of all the blind dates she had been on, only Josh made a positive impression on Jasmine. She didn’t want to walk away from it, but she couldn’t bring herself to accept him at this moment.
She always felt that the situation was very unfair to both her and Josh.
