As the sales team leader, Abigail earned more than 3,000 dollars a month on average. She looked polished and glamorous, but behind that image, she worked harder than most. Truthfully, she deserved every cent.
After that, Dominic got to work on telemarketing.
The job itself was straightforward. The phone numbers were already assigned, and each customer profile included notes on products they might need. He only needed to recommend items based on their selling points and apply the right techniques during the call.
If a customer showed interest, he’d follow up and add them on WhatsApp. If that interest deepened, he’d arrange an in–person
meeting.
It was Dominic’s first day on the phones, though, and he did not find his rhythm right away. His conversion rate stayed fairly
low.
By 4:00 p.m., Dominic checked the work log on his computer and shook his head.
Daniel walked over to look and reacted with visible surprise.
“ Is it really that bad?” Dominic asked, sounding helpless.
“Bad? That’s bullshit. This is amazing. Your 30–second connection rate is insanely high,” Daniel said, his tone tinged with envy.
In telemarketing, the 30–second connection rate was a key metric. Only calls that lasted longer than 30 seconds counted as valid. It showed that Dominic’s communication skills were solid and that many customers were willing to listen.
Over the next few days, Dominic made calls every day, and his pitch grew increasingly natural. He adjusted his tone and wording with ease, tailoring each call to the person on the other end.
Since he had chosen to work, he had no intention of slacking off. He stayed focused and serious, closing several deals within just a few days. The total profit amounted to only a few tens of thousands of dollars, but it still left Daniel both jealous and deeply impressed.
More people in the company began to take notice of Dominic.
