Chapter 112

Evelyn’s POV

So Lydia was sent by Calvin to explain that he and Clara never had anything going on, and all those photos I saw on social media were fake?

“I believe you,” I said flatly.

The tension visibly drained from Lydia’s body. Despite her typical spoiled princess attitude, she’d never been one to lie about her brother. She’d always been too afraid of him for that.

Her eyes fell on Alexis, who was peeking curiously from behind my legs. “Is this…your daughter p>

I placed a protective hand on Alexis’s shoulder. “That’s none of your business p>

During my five years as Luna of the Bloodbane Pack, Lydia had never shown me anything but contempt. Her sudden appearance with this “sister-in-law” act was suspicious at best.

She attempted a weak smile. “So…have you forgiven my brother p>

From the corner of my eye, I saw movement by the black car.

Calvin was getting out, his phone pressed to his ear. His face was a mask of tension, eyes dark and unreadable.

“Forgive him?” I laughed bitterly. “In his dreams p>

My inappropriate laughter seemed to unsettle both siblings. Lydia looked like she wanted to say more, but her eyes widened when she saw Calvin approaching, his powerful aura making several nearby parents step back instinctively.

Alexis, perched against my hip, spotted him first.

She patted my shoulder excitedly. “Mommy, look! It’s uncle Calvin p>

I turned to face him, meeting his cold gaze head-on.

Lydia quickly ended her call. “Calvin, I explained everything like you asked. If she won’t forgive you, it’s really not… my fault.” Her voice faded to a whisper by the end.

Seeing that Calvin had arrived, she mumbled an excuse about an appointment and ran to flag down a taxi.

The school dismissal bell was about to ring, and the pickup area was crowded with parents and nannies. I stood with Alexis in a shaded area away from the crowd, but Calvin’s appearance had drawn everyone’s attention. I could feel curious stares and hear whispered speculations.

Calvin’s jaw was tight, his eyes intense as they locked with mine.

“Does it have to be this way?” he asked, his voice low enough that only I could hear.

“What way?” I asked, though I knew exactly what he meant.

His face hardened further, a muscle working in his jaw. The coldness in his expression could have frozen fire, but I refused to be intimidated.

“Forgiveness,” He said.

I stared at him. “Tell me, Calvin, how exactly am I supposed to forgive you p>

“Remember the first time I came to pick up Rowan and Rhys? Clara was standing right beside you, acting like she was the boys’ new mother. And what were you doing? Standing there, letting it happen p>

I could see he wanted to defend himself, to claim Clara’s presence wasn’t his doing, but I wasn’t finished.

“Calvin, I believe your sister’s explanation. I even believe you didn’t cheat. But that doesn’t change anything. It’s all in the past now p>

“Your poor judgment was your fault,” I continued mercilessly. “Your stupidity was your fault p>

A cold smile crossed my lips.”So let’s just end it here, Calvin p>

The veins in his neck showed as he tried to control his emotions. Even in his expensive suit, there was something wild hiding underneath. Something raw was fighting to break free.

He closed his eyes briefly, visibly struggling to maintain his composure.

Alexis, oblivious to the tension, suddenly spotted her brothers exiting the school building. Her eyes lit up. “Mommy, look! Brothers p>

She wiggled in my arms, pointing excitedly. “Down, please! Brothers p>

Across the schoolyard, Rowan and Rhys had seen us too. “Alex!” they called in unison, waving enthusiastically.

I set Alexis down and watched as she ran to her brothers, clutching her thermal bag like treasure. “Brothers, ice cream!” she announced proudly.

Rhys’s eyes immediately brightened, and he helped her open the bag. Rowan, ever the responsible one, steadied Alexis before looking up at me with a curious expression.

“Mom, you’re back from your business trip p>

I glanced pointedly at Calvin, whose ears had turned noticeably red. “Yes, just got back p>

He avoided my gaze, clearly embarrassed at having his lie exposed so easily.

To make the car ride more comfortable for the children, I had switched to a more spacious car recently. It was top quality in every way. The only problem was the extra seating.

So when both boys excitedly pulled Calvin toward the car, I could only press my lips together and swallow my objections.

Seeing her brothers already climbing in, Alexis grew impatient.

She stretched her arms toward Calvin. “Mister carry p>

The tension disappeared from Calvin’s face at my daughter’s innocent request. He lifted her with gentle hands. His movements were careful like he was handling something precious.

Alexis kicked her little legs in the air out of habit before Calvin placed her in the seat nearest the door.

“Mommy, hurry!” she called out to me, waving happily.

During the entire ride home, I felt Calvin’s intense gaze on me. I deliberately avoided eye contact and focused on entertaining Alexis in my lap instead.

Calvin clearly thought he had earned entry into my home because of our sons. He probably planned to have a “proper talk” after dinner, but I had other ideas.

As soon as we pulled up to the house, I launched my attack.

“Rowan, Rhys, Daddy has to work late tonight. Say goodbye to him p>

“Alex, say bye-bye to the mister p>

All three children obediently complied. Rowan was already showing signs of becoming a responsible young man. He puffed out his chest.

“Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll take good care of my brother,” he promised seriously.

Not to be outdone, Rhys quickly added, “I’ll be good, Dad p>

Alexis didn’t share the same bond with Calvin as her brothers. She simply hugged my leg and gave him a casual wave. “Bye-bye, mister p>

When Calvin’s eyes met mine over the children’s heads, I couldn’t help the small smile that appeared on my lips. The frustration in his expression was clear as he realized what I had done.

Sometimes revenge came in small packages.
