Chapter 120

Calvin’s POV

My jaw clenched tight. After we found out Clara had poisoned my sons, I’d locked her up in a safe place while we dug deeper into this whole mess. Zeon had purposely leaked where she was being held to use her as bait.

The rescue team knew what they were doing. Professional types, rogues. They grabbed her and got out of Ravenshade fast.

I wasn’t surprised. I’d blocked all the international exits months ago, knowing something like this might happen. They could hide somewhere in Veridia, but they couldn’t get away from me.

“That surveillance team that’s been following us for five years pulled back after they got Clara out,” Zeon added. “But the ones watching Miss Evelyn are still there p>

His words made my blood run cold. I walked to the window and scanned the streets around the hospital.

“They don’t get to decide when this ends,” I said.

Cyra started pacing restlessly inside me. “They threaten our mate and pups. Show no mercy p>

In an abandoned factory on the edge of Ravenshade, a man with a square face knelt on the concrete floor with his hands tied behind his back.

“Alpha Calvin, I swear I didn’t help free Clara! I’ve been watching the Calypso Pack just like you told me to. I never betrayed you p>

His desperation might have seemed genuine, but the way his eye twitched and how he paused told me he was hiding something.

I nodded almost imperceptibly to my two enforcers.

They stepped forward, wolfsbane-laced batons in hand. The first blow landed with a sickening thud against Damon’s ribs. He howled in pain, the wolfsbane burning into his skin even as the bone cracked beneath.

Blow after blow fell, accompanied by Damon’s grunts and pleas. Even as his body began to fail him, his lips remained stubbornly sealed. Impressive, in its way.

“Damon,” I finally spoke, my voice steady. “How long have you been with the Calypso Pack p>

The man trembled visibly, his voice cracking. “E-eight years, Alpha p>

I watched him dispassionately.

I’d personally selected Damon for infiltration work. He’d become Rocco’s right hand and fed us intelligence for years. I never had reason to doubt his loyalty until now.

“Eight years is a long time,” I mused, pacing slowly around him. “Long enough for your son to turn three. Your parents don’t know about him, do they p>

The look of terror that flashed across his face confirmed my suspicions. His body jerked violently as he tried to maintain his composure, teeth grinding together.

“Alpha Calvin,” he stammered, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t even have a girlfriend, let alone a child p>

“Is that so?” I replied softly.

I nodded to Zeon, who stepped forward and held a phone in front of Damon’s face. On the screen was live footage of a small boy, no older than three, sitting in a room with one of my security team.

The color drained completely from Damon’s face. His eyes darted frantically to mine, then back to the screen. He lunged forward despite his restraints, smashing his forehead against the concrete floor repeatedly until blood pooled beneath him.

“Alpha Calvin, I made a mistake! I’ll do anything you ask! Please, he’s innocent. Please, spare my son!” he wailed, his voice breaking.

I remained half-hidden in the shadows, my posture relaxed like a lion at rest, though my Alpha presence filled the room with silent authority that made everyone else uncomfortable.

I said nothing, allowing his terror to build. When I finally rose and moved toward the door, Damon’s panic reached its peak.

He struggled against the guards holding him down, screaming as he saw me about to leave.

“Silas Robinson!” he shouted desperately. “It was Silas Robinson from the Brownfur Pack p>

I paused but didn’t turn back.

“He’s been coordinating everything with the Calypso Pack! He’s the one protecting them p>

On the phone screen, one of my men pretended to throw the child into water. The audio played the splash and a child’s terrified scream.

Damon collapsed, his body convulsing with sobs. “Why?! I told you everything! Why did you still hurt him p>

One of my enforcers brought his baton down on the back of Damon’s head.

“When you sold out Alpha Calvin’s mate and pups to Rocco,” the enforcer growled, “you should have known this day would come p>

Damon’s eyes rolled back as he lost consciousness, his face ashen with regret.

Outside the factory, my head of security approached me as I lit a cigarette.

“Alpha, Damon’s out cold,” he reported. “What about the kid p>

I wasn’t going to hurt a kid, but the traitor still needed to be punished.

I put out the cigarette and sealed it in an evidence bag. Nothing could be left behind.

“Take him to his grandparents,” I instructed. “Tell Damon’s parents he died serving the pack. Give them compensation money p>

I glanced back at the factory. “Clean everything thoroughly, then call the police p>

Within minutes, all traces of our presence were eliminated, leaving only the unconscious traitor and evidence of his crimes for the human authorities to find.

As sirens approached in the distance, I settled into the back of my Maybach, the darkness inside concealing my expression.

The car accelerated smoothly along the quiet back roads toward the hospital where my son still recovered.

Leaning against the seat, I closed my eyes and contemplated what I’d learned.

Silas Robinson. Leon Robinson’s grandfather.

The old wolf was darker than midnight and twice as dangerous. Before his supposed retirement, he’d been a force to be reckoned with in the supernatural community.

The Calypso Pack’s continued survival in the criminal underworld made sense now. Their connections were extensive, reaching from high society figures to common street thugs. One misstep could mean disaster.

With most of the Calypso leadership imprisoned except for the fugitive Clara, I’d been methodically reeling in their outside supporters. Now Silas Robinson had emerged as a critical piece of the puzzle.

The Brownfur Pack’s close ties to the Frostfang Pack complicated matters significantly. Christian Drake wouldn’t appreciate me moving against someone under his protection, even indirectly.

Cyra growled in my head. “We will eliminate anyone who threatens our family, no matter what alliances they hold p>

I agreed silently. The safety of Evelyn and our children outweighed any political considerations.

As the car got closer to the hospital, I took a deep breath and pushed tonight’s business to the back of my mind. In a few minutes, I’d be sitting by my son’s bed again, putting away the ruthless Alpha so I could be the father my kids needed.

But I wasn’t done with the people who hurt my family. They’d keep paying for what they did. One by one, I’d take them all down until there was nothing left of anyone stupid enough to go after what belonged to me.
