Dierdra simpered and reached out to grasp the arm of Gideon’s chair, “It’s been really hard finding ways to help that Avery isn’t hogging to herself! I just want to be useful.” She fixed her puppy-dog eyes on Gideon’s face and managed to look cutely pathetic.
“See,” Gideon gestured at her, “she just wants to help. I would rather you two find ways to work this out between you than bother me settling petty squabbles p>
“Alpha, she sent a teenager to the front to fight with our warriors instead of the community service I assigned him.” I said, coldly, “and she has reassigned the pack cook from her mess hall assignment to act as private chef, which has thrown the kitchens into disarray p>
Gideon frowned at my words, and turned to look into Dierdra’s tearful face, “Dierdra, I know you’re just trying to help, but we do have some rules for a reason,” he patted her hands gently, and handed her a handkerchief from his desk, “since you are new, maybe you should listen to the Luna for a while p>
“Yes, Alpha.” Dierdra said softly, twining her fingers into his and giving him a shaky smile, “I just want to make you happy p>
“And you will, I am sure.” Gideon smiled at her before turning back to me, “Is there anything else p>
Behind his back, Dierdra was shooting me daggers with her eyes. I ignored her, and met Gideon’s gaze with a cool stare.

“Good, because I have something I wanted to pass along to you as well. Apparently there have been some complaints about you missing important meetings, like our refugee orientation? Those sorts of programs are essential for making our newest pack members feel welcome. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have the Luna there, showing that the hierarchy takes an interest in their issues p>
Gideon frowned at me while Dierdra covered her smile with her hand.
“That was due to an unfortunate scheduling error.” I gritted my teeth, “It will not happen again, Alpha p>

“Yes, sir?” I followed, confused. I had only interacted with Gideon’s family at meals and a few key events like my arrival, wedding, and when Gideon had exiled his brother.
“Ah, yes, this is a bit of a delicate matter,” Bennett had the grace to look embarrassed, ” Obviously your wedding night request to stay with my son was within your rights, but I must ask that you give him and his new mate more space.
