When classes ended that afternoon, Lillian strolled lazily out of the school gates-only to have a sleek sports car screech to a stop in front of her.
The door opened, and a boy stepped out. His look was sharp and calculated, black sunglasses, black pants, ankle boots, his striking features framed by a deliberately careless air. He was exactly the type of guy high school girls swooned over.
The sight sent a ripple of squeals through the girls nearby.

Lillian’s gaze shifted away from him, landing instead on the black sedan parked across the street. Her eyes turned cold. “Sorry, who are you?” she said flatly.
And with that, she stepped around him and headed straight toward the road without looking back.

No one had ever dared brush him off like that. But as he watched her walk away, instead of anger, his lips curved into an amused, almost predatory smile. Interesting…
Lillian walked leisurely down the street, senses sharply attuned to the black sedan trailing her at a steady distance. It followed her turn for turn until they reached a busier area.
Then, without hesitation, she cut down a narrow alley.
The car jerked to a stop; several men spilled out, following her into the dim, empty space.
She stopped, turning slowly as six men appeared at the mouth of the alley. Their faces were emotionless, their eyes sharp and lethal.
The moment they saw her, they attacked, every move sharp, vicious, meant to kill.
Lillian dodged, countering with quick, precise strikes of her own. But no matter how many hits she landed, they didn’t falter. Even when injured, they moved with mechanical precision, their bodies ignoring pain as they rose and lunged again.
Minute after minute ticked by, and even with her skill, Lillian’s stamina began to flag. Fighting a pack of tireless, unfeeling monsters was wearing her down; her breathing grew heavier as the relentless assault showed no sign of stopping.
